1. Walz retired from the National Guard in 2005, just before his unit, the 1-125th Field Artillery Battalion, was deployed to Iraq. Veterans have accused him of “abandoning” his unit & “slithering out the door” without completing his service obligations.
2. Lack of combat experience: Despite serving in the National Guard for 24 years, Walz NEVER saw combat. His military career was marked by administrative & training roles, rather than frontline service.
