That's one of those things, though, isn't it? Like the Nazis invading Russia. They could have sat on their asses after June 1940 and invented an A-bomb relatively quickly, perhaps not at the rate of the Americans, but who knows in a different time line, hypothetically speaking. In case after case, that's simply not what power hungry dictators and their often-foolish entourage do. It's better at this point to let the cards fall where they may, especially among working class Americans who are about to see prices rise if Trump implements any of his vague economic policies.
