UnitedHealth officials are pointing to their CEO's murder as a reason they cannot comment on an unrelated @propublica.org
investigation into the company's practice of strategically limiting access to critical treatment for kids with autism.

UnitedHealth Limits Access to Key Treatment for Kids With Autism — ProPublicaWe are in mourning," a spokesperson wrote.
ProPublica has obtained what is effectively the company’s strategic playbook, developed by Optum, the division that manages mental health benefits for United. In internal reports, the company acknowledges that the therapy, called applied behavior analysis, is the “evidence-based gold standard treatment for those with medically necessary needs.” But the company’s costs have climbed as the number of children diagnosed with autism has ballooned; experts say greater awareness and improved screening have contributed to a fourfold increase in the past two decades — from 1 in 150 to 1 in 36.
So Optum is “pursuing market-specific action plans” to limit children’s access to the treatment, the reports said.
“Key opportunities” are outlined in bullets in the do ents. While acknowledging some areas have “very long waitlists” for the therapy, the company said it aims to “prevent new providers from joining the network” and “terminate” existing ones, including “cost outliers.”“They’re denying access to treatment and shrinking a network at a time when they clearly know that there is an urgent need,” she said.
Nah Nancy is the name of the class traitor rat who defended the system by snitching on Luigi, got her reward claim denied on a technicality because she called 911 instead of the FBI/NYPD, and who has now been deposed from her job at McDonalds for all the heat she brought the location.
"emergency hip replacement"
lol is that true? Did loser lefties get the McDonalds worker fired? If that's what the left is reduced to![]()
LOL thinking it's only the left pissed at UnitedHealth and celebrating Luigi murking the mass murderer.
Here comes the T word…
Luigi Mangione is charged with murder as an act of terrorism in CEO's death
https://www.npr.org/2024/12/17/nx-s1...m-ceo-shooting
Former Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Jeremy Saland warned on Tuesday that the new murder as an act of terrorism charge facing Luigi Mangione is a "bit of a stretch."
During an appearance on CNN, Saland, who was also a municipal prosecutor for New York's Westchester County, said: "I, maybe objectively or subjectively, believe this is a bit of a stretch. If I'm somebody, you kill a police officer that's one thing, if you kill a witness to a crime that's something else too that would rise to this first-degree homicide or murder, but this is, I think, if I'm someone whose brother or sister or sibling was murdered on the street. Why should a CEO's murder be treated differently than my loved one? I think it's trying to send a message. But I think it's going to also potentially cause them problems and that's why they kept also that regular, if you will, murder two."

As long as Luigi gets a lifetime of gubmint provided healthcare I don't care what they convict him of.
if eradicating disease is a bad business model, maybe medicine shouldn't be run like a business
Goldman asks: 'Is curing patients a sustainable business model?'“The potential to deliver ‘one shot cures’ is one of the most attractive aspects of gene therapy, genetically-engineered cell therapy and gene editing. However, such treatments offer a very different outlook with regard to recurring revenue versus chronic therapies,” analyst Salveen Richter wrote in the note to clients Tuesday. “While this proposition carries tremendous value for patients and society, it could represent a challenge for genome medicine developers looking for sustained cash flow.”
Richter cited Gilead Sciences’ treatments for hepa is C, which achieved cure rates of more than 90 percent. The company’s U.S. sales for these hepa is C treatments peaked at $12.5 billion in 2015, but have been falling ever since. Goldman estimates the U.S. sales for these treatments will be less than $4 billion this year, according to a table in the report.
“GILD is a case in point, where the success of its hepa is C franchise has gradually exhausted the available pool of treatable patients,” the analyst wrote. “In the case of infectious diseases such as hepa is C, curing existing patients also decreases the number of carriers able to transmit the virus to new patients, thus the incident pool also declines … Where an incident pool remains stable (eg, in cancer) the potential for a cure poses less risk to the sustainability of a franchise.”
killing one CEO is terrorism but shooting and killing thousands of kids at school is just the price we pay for muh gunz
