the flurry of executive actions since the 20th underscores what a weak legislative hand Trump has -- to accomplish his ambitious goals, his best bet might be to break democracy and become a dictator

No need now. He's already accomplished the allowed 2 terms in office.

it's kind of glossed over that POTUS is telling DOJ who to investigate for what, but it's amusing that in the case of getting to the bottom of the unjust persecution of Jacob Chansley...

... the charging authority was the DOJ of this man...

    this is kinda radical

pausing all federal grants and loans to insure ideological conformity with the incoming president

In a two-page do ent, Matthew J. Vaeth, the acting director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, instructs federal agencies to “temporarily pause all activities related to obligations or disbursement of all Federal financial assistance.” The memo, a copy of which was obtained by The Washington Post, also calls for each agency to perform a “comprehensive analysis” to ensure its grant and loan programs are consistent with President Donald Trump’s executive orders, which aimed to ban federal diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, and limit clean energy spending, among other measures.

yep, but the concern here isn't morals

Trump is literally breaking the government and the cons ution he swore to uphold: that's a political sin

It's fascism. Simply, basic, fascism. There's no real hierarchy in fascism, which is exactly what these orders imply. Only if the Supreme Leader or his inner circle recognize it does it exist as law.

Call me practical, but the cons ution as an overarching political foundation has ceased to exist. Only strength will gain us a victory in the current cir stances. How did Hitler come to power and kill millions upon millions? A lack of opposition.

    well, we'll see

Trump may have stolen a march, but it's not game over yet. the official dip tery might not have a broad appeal.

I like to believe what you're preaching. In fact, my brain agrees that this is the truth. My gut feels full of fear, though. Not afraid to hide that fact. I'm sure there's plenty of others like us. Let's not wait til the Gestapo 2.0 prevent us from expressing that.

I don't think the American people will sit still. I also don't think there's very much Gestapo 2.0 can do about people organizing to fight Trump.

but, like you suggested, the revolution in the form of government is already happening

we've been in a pre-revolutionary state for four years, it's like the Dems had no idea what an attempted coup means

    Fear of losing re-election.

Which is why he kept flip flopping in 2020 on the covid issue, unfortunately he was relatively green to politics as a businessman and while flip flopping often works as a CEO well it doesn't work as in bent POTUS or governor or any other executive. He needed to pick a side and stick to it firmly.

It's also why he waited until his second term to implement some of his hardline issues. He's gonna be on a yacht somewhere in 2029 and playing golf no matter whether his approval rating is 80% or 30% nationwide at the end of 2028, so he doesn't care now.
Nah, it's because he still had s in his pocket. This time, President Trump is all out of s to give.

Wouldn't it be something if California turned red. The man walked into the devastated den of liberal, leftist, progressive Los Angeles and knocked the State (Newsome) and local (Bass) governments off high center. It's been a thing of beauty watching the Current President do, in a week, what Joe Biden wouldn't do in 4 years. , after waiting 4 months, the Army Corps of Engineers hit the ground running in North Caroline, Virginia, and Tennessee.

We haven't had a President this pro-American since James Monroe.

President Vance from 2028 to 2036. Republican Supermajorities in both houses of Congress, beginning in 2026.
