Did you know that 3,000 top-performing applicants for air traffic controllers were REJECTED by FAA for being white?
It's at least a contributing factor. Understaffing is another. And, I would imagine pilot error was involved because, there's no reason both of those aircraft should have occupied the same airspace that close to DCA. It appears one of the aircraft was too high or the other was too low.

Damn, crash just happened, Dump. But, what is known is that the FAA is woefully understaffed in the ATC position and that a directive caused the agency to emphasize DEI hiring over merit-based hiring. I referenced the lawsuit, filed long before Trump was President. Take a look.
But, if you had read past my first sentence, where I stated I believe it was, at least, a contributing factor, you'll see I mentioned said ATC understaffing and pilot error as potential factors.
