Regarding who was first on Castle (Rascal), I think if you looked at the film, rankings, and our draft spot he was the clear choice. But, we were so desperate for a point guard it put the Kentucky PGs of Sheppard and Dilly firmly in play. We can just thank our stars Sheppard went #3. Part of the high intrigue of Castle was that he had the possibility to play PG, at least according to him. But I'd venture to say none of us knew that he could pass the ball with the precision, flair, and court vision that he has.

The main argument I recall was Dilly over Castle at 4. I felt pretty strongly that not only was Castle better, but that Dilly would be there at 8 while Castle would certainly not be. I guess some people wanted Holland over Castle, but I don't think that or any other names gained a lot of traction at the 4-spot discussion.
He’s from here! We’ve known castle to be a point / have point like qualities for the longest time Not a shocker the kid is better than a lot you thought he was….i can pull the receipts if need be.

What they should have done with the shooting part of the skills challenge is subtract 2 seconds from the team’s time for every made shot. That would have made it compe ive tbh
    Exactly!

not sure on what grounds did wemby get disqualified
On the grounds of embarrassing the NBA by gaming the system and doing something that didn't look good optically.

Instead of making up a rule on the spot to DQ them, they should have warned them for the final, change the rule next season and spun this as their future face of the league cared enough to devise a strategy.

I won't. Why does it bother you so much?
Not sure what you mean. You shouted me out twice after the fact. Hopefully you get passed this. Maybe Steph will win next year.

I thought they could get a do over or something, it was lame. Then they let McClung cheat in the dunk contest right after.

I think the dunk contest should include Coyote with his trampolines.

Scrap the skills challenge if they're going to make it easy and non-embarrassing for the players. I'd rather see a HORSE challenge. LOL at the Magic being forced to sign McClung just so he can do his four push off dunks in the dunk contest.
They did the same thing to Philadelphia before. They had to cut some guy to sign McClung. I think his name was Julian Champagne.

Dunk contests are very subjective. You are not just competing with the players, but you are competing with the crowd. It usually comes down to not just how great your dunks are but to who can win over the crowd. Mac had already clearly won the crowd from the beginning and then when you add in his props it makes him unbeatable. It's hard to overcome his props that I think only a few all-time great dunkers could defeat him without using props to counter such as MJ, Vince, Dominique.

I think Castle could have won the compe ion if he had used Victor as a prop during his first dunk in the final round. That pretty much would have ended MAC and given Castle the crowd momentum he needed to win.

Either way I think Castle repped himself greatly the last two days and has made a name for himself. He still has an opportunity tonight to do something great.

They need to outlaw props. How is it fair when one contestant uses a sponsor branded car?

I remember Dee Brown pumping his Reebok, then it got silly after that with Dwight in his S cape and wasn’t even a dunk.

Castle fell victim to props while having more technically impressive dunks just like JaVale McGee did.

I don't understand all the McClung hate on here...but I also don't understand all the talking heads saying he's a better dunker than Vince Carter... maybe I'm just out of touch... I think he's good and should have won, but he's not nearly in Carters rarified air...

Make the rules up as you go. Nothing new and makes the NBA look worse because they did not like how they followed the rules.

When McClung, a G-League who looks more like a videographer than an actual player, won the 1st time was an upset over highly recruited guys. The 2nd time around wasn’t a fluke. But the 3rd seemed a bit too much and looked more like an ad. I’d hate to see him again next year tbh.

    100% this.

If the dunk contest is going to be a clown show, recruit guys off the streets and let them use trampolines and drones to complete their dunks.

If we want the NBA players to really embrace and compete in the dunk contest, they need to get back to the basics instead of this "I hopped over a guy on a hoverboard" bull .

Castle did all of his dunks last night with no frills, no props...the only dunk he struggled with is when they had some dumbass who couldn't make a simple layup setting him up for it.

lol MacDung gimmick boy while Castle was throwing down classic bad ass dunks

that behind the back where Castle snake charmed the ball up his arm in a physics defying display and then had the dexterity to corral it with his hand and slam it in? That was nasty, Castle won

I shouted you because I thought that was an interesting video explaining why I think McClung's dunks aren't all that.

no one is losing their more than you. You got your panties in a bunch that spurs fans want to see their guy succeed. Just stfu and stick to your edgy bull when the spurs lose another game. I swear fans like you are just so miserable and like to control how we fans should react to things that you claim are so “unimportant.” You even attack a good poster like Dex. Are you a loser in your own social circles that you have to damage control here?
