he really didn't say anything we don't know already
I’ve watched some of these Bobby Marks team previews and they’re all surprisingly vanilla. I suppose it’s because it’s espn and the target audience is taken into account.
At least Bobby has great CBA knowledge. A couple of weeks ago I was listening to Bill Simmons seriously suggesting Boston trades for players with unguaranteed contracts (Zion) or options in order to clear cap space. Can’t believe how a ton of these journos have been in the game for decades and still lack general knowledge about how things work. Fwiw Zach Lowe was his co-host and he didn’t correct him, probably didn’t want to embarrass him as Zach knows his stuff.
I thought that, but then he completely misunderstood the Stepien Rule in that preview when he thought the Spurs couldn't trade their 2026 or 2028 picks because they traded their 2027 first in the Fox deal. Like he knew they had ATL27, but he didn't seem to get that counts.
Honestly, I think this is more because it’s a low effort video than due to him not understanding the stepien.
I find myself asking who this is for? The die hard already know, while the casuals don’t care.
Maybe if you are in the former camp and wants background on then other teams?
the funniest are those guys on Fox saying the Spurs should trade Chicago 27, Boston 28, Dallas 30 and Minnesota 30 for Giannis. All 4 picks that the Spurs don't own![]()
He has also said we traded Collins in Huerter, when we traded Collins and Jones.
All his spurs contents looks like someone is holding his family hostage off camera tbh
Starting to see how he got fleeced so bad in Jersey
according to Bobby Marks:
that looks good, especially if Sochan's extension is indeed 35/3. This looks like Wemby gets the 25% max extension. I thought it would be 30% if he makes All-NBA or wins DPOY or am I wrong? Gotta hope Brian Wright can work his magic and get Fox to sign for 200/4.
Trae Young not likely on the Spurs radar is good info.
Where do people get this ? Did they fall asleep for the entirety of the Feb. trade deadline?
I think Trae Young to Spurs was always overblown as it was, but yeah that was officially put to bed when the Spurs acquired Fox. Even moreso now that Castle has progressed and we are potentially looking at another guard with #2.
I don’t know I think Trae Young could maybe play PF for us?
Let's do this deal. Cmon wright
well, the spurs dont outright own any of those picks
2027 - i think you meant Altanta, not Chicago
2028 - we have our own pick, with a swap option from boston (top 1 protected)
2030 - we have our own pick, with swap options with both minnesota and dallas. dallas swap would be unprotected, wolves swap is top 1 protected. still, we will only pick once in that draft.
and then also 2031 we have our own pick, but unprotected swap option with Kings
obviously, the ideal scenario is that the spurs are doing so well that all of these swaps end up being exercised, but for all we know those might all wind up just being the spurs natural picks. also, due to stepien rule, we cannot simultaneously trade the 2027 and 2028 picks unless we receive a FRP in one of those years
no, they actually had ATL 27 in there as well and we don't have a CHI 27 pick. We traded CHI 25 for Fox. The other ones are swaps as we know, but they act like those are draft picks. Like saying send the Bucks Mavs 30 and Wolves 30 when it's in fact Spurs 30 with DAL and Wolves swaps are 2 complete different things. There's actually a bunch of media folks who think we have this gang of draft picks available
The one pick you trade is Spurs 29. Those swaps will be needed to add high level talent to the roster once our players are on max contracts. Imagine just one of those swaps hitting like our pick did in this draft while we're already a contender. Denver and Milwaukee are the perfect example why you don't go all in with your picks. You will need those to maneuver contracts and reload the roster.
Nice of Bobby Marks to not prepare AT ALL for his first video of this series![]()
