How Tech was able to win out for Ojo:
".....Larger programs like Texas, Michigan, Georgia, Ole Miss and Ohio State, among others, weren't able to sway Ojo from the Red Raiders, backed by The Matador Fund collective that is driven by billionaire booster Cody Campbell.
Ojo's agent, Derrick Shelby of Prestige Management, confirmed the reported numbers around Ojo's revenue share deal on Monday before revealing that his other offers decreased "overnight" as the new NIL model was ins uted on July 1.
....."What a lot of schools are going to do is allow that House settlement cap to lower the numbers," Shelby said via Front Office Sports. "We've seen that with Felix. Some numbers went down overnight, based on the House settlement."...
....As Felix's other NIL packages began to dip in light of the revenue share cap, Blanchard and Co. stuck to the original figure. And that seems to have been a major factor in the decision.
"So a lot of the numbers will go down," Shelby said. "In Felix's case, that stayed the same. So, he didn't lose anything (with Texas Tech) overnight with the House settlement, and that eventually won out with Felix."

I'll put $1 on tech hitting the over.
$1 on OU hitting the over
$1 UNC under the 7
$1 USC over 7.5
He had 3 million guaranteed for staying long enough. Once others found this out… Tech won this kid before the others knew about the back loaded funds. No way they were playing that game trying to come back later. O Jo is all Tech. No counter offers now. Texas will definitely pursue other kids that have committed, not OJo.
Ex. Rouse will get pursued by Texas again unless Tennessee follows this model. And the revenue sharing is going to be cir vented by various lawsuits so it’s all up in the air again. The lawsuits will ultimately come down to booster NIL money that the revenue sharing tried to prevent. The “real” NIL money is from companies that actually make money off the player’s popularity. Arch Manning’s got EA Sports, Red Bull, probably some car company like Bijan. The name, Manning, which people hate or love is a definite $ maker. Texas built its offensive line from 2022 off the Pancake factory. This was not Pancake money made out of the OLinemen’s popularity in advertising like Manning.
Texas looks like they will wait on the lawsuits and respond appropriately. This is all very interesting and even fun to follow imo. The individual suits seem they are starting out on the basis of the “fair market value” assessments made by the third party (GO NIL) under Deloitte. If this falls apart, it’s chaos again. The House may have solved nothing.
Yormark… with the “goods”.
I'm not sure I get the marketing team up strategy other than they each post a bunch of advertising at each other's events
I'll just stick this here....
Lol I should probably fix that but meh
Yah, that's how Tech got "ahead of the curve".
For now.
Lol thanks for the bulletin board material, WSJ.
"The $5 Million Football Recruit Who Just Signed for an Also-Ran
Felix Ojo is the No. 1 prospect in Texas and had his pick of powerhouse schools. How come he ended up signing for Texas Tech?"
