They also won the Cecil each of the last 4 years.
Than texas can add these to the count.
1981 National Championship Foudation
1977 Berryman, FACT
1968 DeVold, Matthews, Sagarin
1941 Berryman, Williamson
1914 Billingsley
...i am gone for a few days and this board turns stupid. if you count ALL the different polls then USC would have like a "million" national championships. but you DON'T, and comparing the polls mentioned above to the AP is just assinine.
If you count ALL the different polls, like the stepchild AP, then USC would have a 2003 national championship. But you DON'T, and comparing the AP to a NCAA and major conference-approved system that was in place like the BCS to determine a national championship is just asinine.
Actually, if you use the website that scott posted USC only had 5 true NC where they were the clear number 1. The other 6 according to that list USC had the vote of 1 poll, while another school had 3 or 4. I guess they can claim to be 1/5 of a NC.

...umm, actually you do count the AP b/c the AP and Coaches poll decide the national championship nowadays. but you would know that, if...you knew anything.
btw, t.u. only has 2 national championships that they do not share, if you want to go that route. while USC has 5.
BCS = Determines national championions now-a-days
What were the results of past BCS National Championship games?
In 2006, second-ranked Texas upset Southern California, 41-38, for the BCS national championship in the Rose Bowl Presented by Citi.
In 2005, top-ranked Southern California beat No. 2 Oklahoma for the BCS national championship in the FedEx Orange Bowl.
In 2004, No. 2 LSU defeated top-ranked Oklahoma for the BCS national championship in the Nokia Sugar Bowl.
In 2003, No. 2 Ohio State upset No. 1 Miami, 31-24, in double overtime in what many regard as one of the greatest college football games in history.
In 2001 BCS No. 1 Miami defeated BCS No. 2 Nebraska, 37-14, in the Rose Bowl before a sellout crowd of 93,781.
In 2000 top-ranked Oklahoma defeated No. 2 Florida State, 13-2, in the FedEx Orange Bowl.
In 1999 No. 1 Florida State beat second-ranked Virginia Tech, 46-29, in the Nokia Sugar Bowl.
In the first BCS le game in 1998, No. 1 Tennessee defeated No. 2 Florida State, 23-16, in the Tos os Fiesta Bowl.
...thats why you're and idiot.
You do have to count AP poll. Sorry Texas fans.
Counting the AP poll as the official poll is like putting an asterisk next to the Spurs' championship like Phil Jackson says.
I wouldn't do it, I'm not that much of an idiot to think that in the current system the BCS doesn't pair the top 2 teams to duke it out & determine a #1.
Facts:
====
Head-to-Head UT beat SC.
SC had an awesome run in the top 3-5 of college football that ISN'T over.
If someone thinks UT won't finish in the top 3-5 of all the final polls I'd like some realistic odds & we can put some $$$ in escrow & put our $$$ where ou mouths are.
The Buckeyes are the overwhelming favs to win it all this yr, NOT SC or UT. Check the odds.
The Spurs won all of their championships & NONE deserve an asterisk. Does LSU deserve one too?
As Kori would so eloquently say...
Would you all just already?
...do you even read what you write? i am scratching my head as to why anyone, including myself, ever responds to you. you're ing re ed.![]()
The AP doesn't decide , my friend. They didn't want to be involved in the championship selection process after their opinion wasn't strong enough to allow your beloved Trojans a share of the le in '05. If the AP was a legitimate part of the process in 2006 AD, they'd have their own NCAA approved and sanctioned championship bowl game to decide the national champion like the BCS does, or they would be a part of the BCS process.
By the way, since you're still whining about USC deserving an asterisk or whatnot for their '03 season, I'll throw you a bone here. It wasn't Southern Cal's fault that their out-of-conference slate that year included five-loss Auburn and seven-loss Notre Dame. Throw in WAC patsy Hawaii and Mountain West wallflower BYU, and the only ranked team the Trojans beat before their bowl win over Michigan was that same damn Wazzou team that beat Texas in the Holiday Bowl. USC got ed out of BCS contention because they lost to a Cal team that was 2-3 entering their game and finished the season with six losses. LSU beat four teams in the top twenty and lost to Florida, another top 20 team in '03. Even the damn Sooners were undefeated until K-State blindsided them in the Big 12 championship game, and they had wins over ranked teams like Texas and Oklahoma State. Your weak conference plus your bigname opponents having off years in '03 ed you way worse than the BCS did.
That USC '03 sked would be downright terrifying this upcoming season, though. At Auburn, at Cal, at Arizona State, and at Notre Dame? With the exception of your field trip to Fayetteville, all of your really tough games are at home this season.
This board is incredible. It's ironic that the college sports forum features so many contributors who appear to be uneducated.
Have another drink son, it must be nice to finally be over 21yo & still not be able to handle your Tuuti Frutti Made for A Pussy drink!![]()
JonGayWhiney, you are truly an ag.
