Is it just me, or is this announcing team, especially Vermeil, pretty good?

Jaworski is a much better student of the game than Theismann, IMO, and does a much, much better job of conveying what he knows.

Vermeil was a good color man when he did college games, back before he was hired by the Rams. I think with his recent NFL jobs, his knowledge of the current state of the NFL game is an asset.

Jaworski and Vermeil have such a long history together, too -- and Vermeil has such a relationship with his players -- that they compliment each other nicely.

I actually feel like I can learn something or that I can be clearer on something with this booth crew.

Maybe Theismann's vocal cords will go out sometime this season.

If you ever watched ESPN's Monday Night Countdown in past years and saw Jaworski's segments during those shows, you'll understand his knowledge of the game. He was exceptional at breaking down film, explaining how a quarterback reads coverage (i.e., how a change from Cover 1 to Cover 2 will change a read and make a good quarterback check down in his progression) or why certain defensive fronts and stunts were successful in breaking down a protection and putting pressure on the quarterback. He's best at dissecting the passing game, which is what most people want to learn about anyway, but he's able to take his great knowledge and provide understandable explanations to the viewer. I'm skeptical that Theismann could do that; Aikman talks those sorts of x's and o's, but seems to have an expectation that the viewer has a fairly sophisticated understanding of things like coverage concepts; Madden doesn't even try, but he's more of a macro-commentator.

Yeah, I think Jaws is great...I always enjoy seeing him on MNC or NFL Live.

This announcing team is 433994323492 times better than their real one... don't forget the value that Brad Nessler adds. He is part of the reason why ESPN/ABCs college coverage is awesome, but their NFL coverage blows ass.

Brad Nessler IMO was the best NBA announcer too.

Nessler is a very versatile announcer and very good at pretty much everything.

He could make a cricket match seem interesting.

I was thinking the same thing. Vermeil and Jaws were really good in the booth last night. Nessler was solid also. I always liked Vermeil when he did college games too. Very informative and etertaining broadcast.

Personally I like the Theismann, Tirico, Kornheiser trio. I'm not trying to learn anything since I think I know the game pretty well already. I want to be entertained and I think Tony and Joe do a pretty good job at that.

from what i have seen tony is improving rapidly, he was pretty funny last night. tirico needs to lighten up a bit though, seemed like a few of kornheiser's quips soared over his head.

I like TK, too, but JT seems like he gets his feelings hurt whenever TK says anything.

And it's always great to hear the Sex Boat jokes on MNF.

At least looking at the schedule, it seems as though we're going to have good MNF games the rest of the season.

Except for that OAK-SEA one. God, I think Oakland might lose their game in Week 3 by 10 points.

I liked the Jaws-Vermeil-Nessler crew...but with the exception of Tirico, the other one, IMO, blows goats.
