is the backup any better?
How many chapters will this have? Buffalo is no pushover but no playoff team either and to be owned like Miami was can't souly sit on the shoulders of Daunte could it?
How many TO's does he have?
The QB is the leader of a football team period. Miami does not have one. Still. oooo I called this last Thursday.
It's Joey Harrington.
I wouldn't want Joey Harrington to be my partner in Madden 07, much less in a game. He'd just fumble the controller too much.
exactly. calling for a head without considering the successor can be dangerous.
edit: just saw c-pep was sacked 7 times. he may not be the root of the problem.
Well, Brutalis hasn't proven himself to be summa laude.
If JH does bad, wouldn't our QB's just cancel eachother out? It can't get much worse as it is now.
The thing is, mobility was once one of his greatest strengths. He appears to be reluctant to run because of that knee injury he suffered last season.
Teams are also figuring Culpepper out by putting 8 in the box and blitzing him relentlessly. It all started last season in Minnesota after they lost Randy Moss. Defenses didn't have to play honestly on Culpepper last season as he didn't have the threat that suits his vertical passing game style of play.
Say what you want about Ricky Williams, but he was a very big part of the Dolphins success. Both years he was out, the Dolphins have struggled mightily on offense. Notice how the Dolphins rebounded at the end of last season when Williams became the #1 RB again.
outside of his fumble, what did he do bad?
He can't help getting the knocked out of him, and he had over 250 yards passing and a TD throwing.
I wouldn't give up on him yet, especially if the alternative is Joey Harrington who got unjustifibly beat up in Detroit too.
Its week two, the guy is a pro bowler.
Come on....
The problem isn't Daunte. It's that Miami isn't running short/intermediate routes nearly enough.
They need to do something to back the blitz off, and aren't doing it with their play calling. Typical Saban ball.
Dolphins miss Linehan. They need to do something to back the blitz off, and aren't doing it with their play calling. Typical Saban ball.
Of course linehan's play calling isn't wowing me with the Rams so far.
Of course losing two of your best offensive lineman hurts.
Daunte's stats make him look better than he really was today. He looked timid and confused all game.
I agree with Scott. What I saw of that game, Daunte was indecisive at best. He seemed willing to settle for check-downs to backs and safety valves, rather than trying to push the ball up the field. He suffered from some drops by his receivers, but it looked to me like 'Pep was throwing a bad ball as that game wore on. Once the Bills were secure at 16-0 late and backed off a bit, he was able to make his reads and go up the field with it. Problem is, the Dolphins are going to see plenty of teams that are better defensively (particularly in coverage) than Buffalo.
Culpepper sucks ass. His brain is the size of a walnut. Miami should give Harrington a shot before their season is completely wasted.
Obviously, you've never seen JH play in a real game before.
Any QB looks horrible behind the Lions line. Joey was a stud in college and I think he can still do it.
Are you joking? He had a 55% completion percentage in college and has a 55% completion percentage in the pros. Looks like he is performing up to his capabilities to me...
He lacks field awareness, has poor footwork and is a horrid leader.
His career completion percentage at UO was 55.3% I believe it was higher during his senior season. He finished his career with a 25-3 record and led the team to a #2 national record his senior season. Sounds like a pretty good leader to me.
Trent Dilfer, Akili Smith, David Carr, Joey Harrington, Kyle Boller.
All drafted in the first round. All had Jeff Tedford as a college coach. None lived up to their draft billing in the pros. Or will.
The only reason tlong is jocking him is because he went to Oregon State.
