    Sonics And Ridnour Agree On Extension

    Press Release - The Seattle SuperSonics and point guard Luke Ridnour have agreed on a multi-year contract extension.

    The length and terms of the extension are not known at this hour.

    A press conference to make a formal announcement has been schedule for 8:00 PM EST.

    That makes a lot of sense for both sides.

    Ridnour makes about the same as the first three years of an MLE contract. In three years, he's off the hook to go sign with another team if he doesn't like his role, and he'll still probably be only 27 or so.

    And, Seattle doesn't break the bank to re-sign him, but lock him up so the contract is not an issue. Plus, their point guard group has a solid 1-2 depth.

    That's a fair contract, and it makes sense under the cir stances.

    I'm impressed with the sonics on this one. Ridnour can be inconsistent, but when he's playing well he's hard to stop, so they struck a good balance between current prodution and potential if stable.

    Now lets see what they do with the Rashard Lewis situation.
