Travis Lewis joins Ian Harris as the second high school football player from San Antonio to give a verbal committment to the Huskers. After only getting 6 players from texas the last 3 years, Callahan made a commitment to recruit harder in the talent rich state. There is so much talent in the texas high schools, its not even funny. Once ut picks their 25 or so players, the rest are up for grabs. Lewis picked Nebraska over oklahoma. He most likely will play LB with a possibility at S, and we should get a preview of that in the Army All-American Bowl. Dude has some wheels.

Now all Texas needs is a decent OC.
Thanks. You'd think with all the talent here in texas that ut would have a little more hardware in the trophy case. Sooner or later, the recruiting will slow down for ut, and someone will actually have to coach. In the meantime, they'll continue to underachieve.
Maybe its a personal interpretation but I don't see the Texas program as underachieving since Brown took over as coach. Texas is averaging 10 wins a season, have won 5 bowl games, a conference le and national championship. The Horns are a contender every year with a shot at the le, personally that is what I want in a program. Just me though.

The problem is, too much of that talent still leaves the state. That's fine, you're more than welcome to the leftovers after we cherry pick the state of Texas for the best talent. Hope those guys work out for you.......................................
You obviously can't get better than winning a NC. I'll give Vince Young credit for that. Besides that, in the last 10 years texas has only 1 big12 championship trophey (same year as NC) and has gone 6-4 in all its bowl games, and only played in 1 NC game. The K-state game was an upset, but that happens almost every year. They get beat by a non-ranked or lower ranked team that they clearly have more talent than.
Mack Brown is 5-3 in bowl games as the coach at UT. As a fan, I would have liked more conference championships but I still think the body of work as a whole under Mack Brown has been very good. The main gripe I have is that I think Brown has been too loyal to Greg Davis. As with most big time programs, the head coach is more manager than coach. I think Greg Davis has cost them some games. Again, my .02 and opinion, not a suggested course of action or something that could be changed.
