Why did you wait until after Nov. 7 to about this Ray? How can the dimmocraps erase something that Bush never did?
Well, Teddy Kennedy is going to get his way again looks
like. The dimm-0-craps will have all these new voters by
08, which should help their cause.
Why not just throw open all our borders, give everyone
who crosses a "get your citizenship" card and abandoned
all our American traditions and religions.
Because citizenship will be granted to many others, other
than Mexicans. In case anyone has forgotten.
Like Chump says in his little signature: We Are Doomed
(because of political correctness).

Congress open to passing bill on immigration

Congress will approve an immigration bill that will grant citizenship rights to most of the 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens in the U.S. after Democrats take control next month, predict both sides on Capitol Hill.
While Republicans have been largely splintered on the issue of immigration reform, Democrats have been fairly unified behind the principle that the illegals currently in the country should get citizenship rights without having to first leave the country.
"Years of dawdling have worsened our border security and made it harder to fix this broken system," said Sen. Patrick J. Leahy, the Vermont Democrat who will lead the Judiciary Committee next year. "We should not let partisan politics and intolerance continue to delay and derail effective reform."
Democrats in both chambers say they will start with some form of legislation first drafted by Sens. John McCain, Arizona Republican, and Edward M. Kennedy, Massachusetts Democrat, which was the basis for the bill that was approved earlier this year by the Senate.
"This past May, the Senate Judiciary Committee reported and then the Senate passed bipartisan versions of comprehensive immigration reform to bring people out of the shadows while strengthening our borders," Mr. Leahy said. "I look forward to building on that work next year and making progress on a bipartisan effort that improves security, supports our economy and respects the dignity of all people."
House Republicans and many outside Congress derided that bill as "amnesty" for allowing illegals to remain in the U.S. and eventually become citizens. Democrats say it's not amnesty because aliens must pay a fine and wait years before becoming citizens.
"The Senate bill is pure amnesty," said Rep. Jack Kingston, Georgia Republican. "Dress it up any way you want, it's still amnesty. It lets people pay their way out of sneaking into the country illegally."
With President Bush as an ally in the White House, he worries, Democrats will proceed next year with legislation to ultimately make citizens out of most of the illegals now in the country. And Republicans, still reeling from deep losses in the November elections, will give up the fight.
Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, California Republican, said he expects an immigration-reform bill that doesn't deport illegal aliens to be the only significant legislation to come out of the new Democratic Congress and win Mr. Bush's approval.
"The only real legislation that can be expected from Congress is amnesty," he said. "If they come up with a plan and the president is behind it, it will pick up a lot of our own members."
Republicans also expressed little confidence that their leadership team is committed to blocking amnesty.
The group Americans for Better Immigration, which supports tougher immigration policies, has given Republican leaders mixed grades on the issue. But on the issue of amnesty, the grades have been much worse.
Rep. John A. Boehner of Ohio, the House Republican leader, has a "D"; Rep. Roy Blunt of Missouri, the House Republican whip, scores a "C+." Incoming House Republican Conference Chairman Adam H. Putnam of Florida, who has co-sponsored legislation that many view as amnesty, scores an "F-" from the group on the issue.
Still, Mr. Boehner and Mr. Blunt can claim credit for thwarting the Senate immigration bill earlier this year. But now the only hope, Republicans say, is that some of the conservative Democrats who beat Republican in bents this year will side with conservatives in the House to block anything that smells like amnesty.
Rep. Tom Tancredo, the Colorado Republican and a leading critic of amnesty, was initially dejected by November's elections, fearing that Democrats would ram through immigration reform. But a recent congressional trip with conservative-leaning "Blue Dog" Democrats changed his mind.
They don't want to touch the issue, he said, after seeing fissures already develop among Democrats' base voters on the issue. Illegal-alien advocacy groups think the Senate bill is too harsh on illegal aliens because it imposes fines on all and excludes others with criminal records. Those groups also insist future workers have a direct path to citizenship -- a requirement that labor unions fiercely oppose.
"I think it's going to be much more difficult for them to do than I had thought the day after the election," Mr. Tancredo said.
Most likely, he said, Democrats will succeed at undoing plans to build 700 miles of fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border.
"The thing that's in the greatest jeopardy right now is the fence, because they do have the appropriations process and that's probably the one they can stop," Mr. Tancredo said.

Why did you wait until after Nov. 7 to about this Ray? How can the dimmocraps erase something that Bush never did?
I live in Pennsylvania. This don't fly AT ALL with the union vote. In fact, I would say it is the number one issue up here; even though the actual impact of illegal immigrants is VERY small; it's the principal of the whole thing.
I guess big labor don't have the pull it used to, huh?
xray somehow missed that John McCain is sponsoring this bill, too.
My thoughts exactly. Quick to bash democrats yet apparently doesn't know all the facts. Just like bashing democrats when Rummy himself is no dummy when it comes to Iraq.
Why not just throw open all our borders, give everyone
who crosses a "get your citizenship" card and abandoned
all our American traditions and religions.
wow... how can you live in the United States and still not get what your nation is all about? Abandon American traditions and religions?? what are those you dumb ? the US is composed mainly of IMMIGRANTS you old fart, so what American tradition and religion are you afraid you'll lose by having another 20 million immigrants become American citizens?
He really doesn't get that part.....
The US is composed of those that had parents, grandparents, great-grandparents etc, that were immigrants, now we are Americans. The whole argument that America is a country of immigrants is antiquated and worthless.
Having said that, if they do it legally (whatever the rules are at the time) then they are fine in my book.
Or that Bush won't veto it. Those liberal pansies!
that's not the point. How can you lose American tradition and religion to immigration if it was immigration that created said traditions and religion to begin with?
You're right, I didn't read everything until you just pointed out what the argument really is.
Well, well. So now you have it. It is all the bigots fault
that they, the illegals, are not. They are, after all, just
humans. We are after all just immigrants. No Americans
here! We have no traditions, no religions, no nothing.
Just a bunch of immigrants. We didn't become one.
Yeah, I know boutons and Chump and mannnnnnnnuuuu, some wanted to keep their culture
whatever that was, most became Americans. And in
Texas, this old fart, I think one referred to me as, yeah,
we all became Texans. And about the remarks about
McCain (and I will add Bush) the last time this happened
Regan was President and they still voted Dimm-o-crap.
And guess what the dimm-o-craps know it.
All you youngin's remember what this old fart tells
you, enjoy what you have now. Because in the
future you wont have it unless you fight to keep what
you have. This country was not based on diversity,
it was based on common beliefs. God being one of them
and I don't mean mohammed. And being not hurting
someone's feelings. Like the sexuals and trans-
gender people, whoever they are. Or the so called
homeless, whoever they are. They used to be called
what they were. Live in your liberal world. I will
continue to live in mine.
I'm a proud American and proud of my heritage too. Nothing wrong with that. I'm so glad Native Americans accepted the pilgrims coming here legally. I'm glad at udes like yours are not the norm.
Keep up the good fight, Ray. "Fight to keep what you had" is what native americans used to say.
^^Who are you talking to.....mcbragg.
You tell it like it is xrayzebra!! I'm with you all the way. If we don't fight all these politically correct, liberals we will soon be the minority and this country will go to in a hen basket quicker than those illegals can come across our unprotected borders. Diversity my ass!! Why do we need those damn spanish alternatives every damn time I call customer service!!
I get sick and tired of hearing "For spanish, press 2" crap all the damn time. Learn english damnit!!! Its what this country was founded on and should stay that way. Its english or the highway in my book. McCain ain't no real republican anyhow.
Make fun, my fine adversaries, but look to the South.
Did you see where the leader, newly re-elected,
Chavez, is going to his Congress to get rid of four
TV stations, who he doesn't like. Think about it. He
is talking care of the nation. Just like Fidel.
Well, the immigrants that founded and cons uted this nation also ins uted a rule of law that, among other things, deigns to regulate immigration.
So, as important as being a country of immigrants seems to be to some of you, being a land ruled by a cons ution and a resulting body of laws seems to be disposable.
I wonder how many would a) feel this way if transoceanic travel was as easy as wading across the Rio Grande or, b) believe the very construct of a country that seems to attract all these immigrants would survive a virtual immigration invasion?
After all, you have those of Hispanic heritage (both American Citizens, legal immigrants, and illegal immigrants) in Souther California starting to make noises about returning the region to Mexican rule.
And, perhaps more frightening, you have pockets of Arab Immigrants, who practice the peaceful religion of Islam, trying to establish pockets of Sharia law around the country -- or, at the very least, are proposing the Cons ution should be subservient to Sharia Law.
Now we have a Muslim Congressman who is pretty cozy with these factions.
You mean like the UK, the great socialist country,
is doing just that. How bout that.
How convenient!
Remind me again what the American theocrats' presidential candidate Brownback thinks about immigration?
At last count, there were several hundred "no-go" (actually, that isn't the name given them but, it escapes me at present) zones around Paris, France where local police were more or less impotent because of near 100% population of "North African Immigrants." (<< read, Muslims).
Or, maybe, this is just an inconvenience for you.
Who?
Brownback, please explain. I am not familiar
with the term?
Here is an article for you that think I am kidding.
Sharia Law Spreading in Britain
Monday, December 4, 2006
Islamic law is becoming the law of the land in select pockets of Britain, according to a recent bbc Radio 4 program.
Though sharia law—the Islamic code of justice—has no legal authority in Britain, some Muslims are sidestepping the English criminal justice system in order to have their cases tried by Islamic judges.
“Sharia courts now operate in most larger cities,” said Patrick Sookhdeo, director of the Ins ute for the Study of Islam and Christianity, in a November 30 Telegraph article. “[D]ifferent sectarian and ethnic groups operat[e] their own courts that cater to their specific needs according to their traditions.”
Sookhdeo calls these sharia councils an “alternative parallel unofficial legal system.”
Polls indicate significant support among British Muslims for the sharia system. In a report in the August 7 edition of the Scotsman, one third of British Muslims said they would prefer living under Islamic law—in England—rather than British law.
The Telegraph article cited a specific case where a group of Somali youths, arrested over su ion of stabbing a Somali teenager, were released on bail when the victim’s family said they wanted to settle the case out of court. The matter was decided by an unofficial Somali court in southeast London.
A Somalian youth worker, explaining the case to the bbc, said, “Us Somalis, wherever we are in the world, we have our own law. It’s not sharia, it’s not religious—it’s just a cultural thing.”
A Scotland Yard spokesman told the Telegraph that police often don’t follow through on assault cases if the victims don’t press charges.
Britain has done a notoriously terrible job of assimilating its burgeoning immigrant population. Embarrassed by its own imperial history, it is eager to accommodate the eccentricities of whatever foreign cultures may choose to plant their flags on British soil. It provides them no sense of pride in Britishness, nothing positive to identify with. It is afraid to insist on migrants giving up anything of their own cultural iden y, even when that may pose a threat to other Britons.
This fact has resulted in Britain, particularly London, playing host to an astonishing amount of hair-raisingly anti-British at udes and activities. Numerous radical groups—including arms of al Qaeda—have planted their headquarters or significant operations there. Says Melanie Phillips in her book Londonistan, “UK-based terrorists have carried out operations in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kenya, Tanzania, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Israel, Morocco, Russia, Spain and the United States.” Consider this list of infamous Islamists: the murderer of journalist Daniel Pearl; al Qaeda members who sought to target U.S. financial centers; the man who rammed an explosive-laden truck into police barracks in Kashmir; shoe-bomber Richard Reid; suicide bombers who blew up Israelis in a Tel Aviv bar; one of the masterminds behind two attacks in Bali. All these terrorists called England their home.
The existence within British cities of courts judging British citizens who commit crimes by foreign laws is yet another example of how Britain’s unquestioning devotion to the principles of multiculturalism is eroding its sense of national iden y and endangering its people.
