As a non-interested person, it was an interesting read scrolling through this thread to see how it ended.

taft should have won that game a few years back... IIRC they lost because of a missed pat.
actually, Mesquite went for 2 and got it and won 15-14.

They should have won though. There was a play in the end zone where the Mesquite QB was being sacked and threw away the ball to try and avoid the sack...the ball was not to the line and no where near an eligible receiver so either it should have been a sack for a safety or intentional grounding in the end zone which is also a safety. The first half was a downpour and Taft, who was primarily a running team (Robert Merrill who ended up doing well for TCU) controlled the game pretty easily. The second half the rain stopped and Mesquite was able to move the ball through the air.

    How do I know this?

I sat freezing my ass off soaked to the bone watching the game!

five years ago to the day actually.

here's to our blue and gold!!!

This is much better than having our asses handed to us by Calallen 10 years ago when I was there. Sucked not to be there, but thank God for cellphones.

I was at the game. Worst officiated game I have ever seen. There had to of been atleast 30 penalties, most of the bull for cove. After one play when the AH fumbled on the .0001 inch line and Cove ran it back to the 50, the AH coach was on the field for 3 minutes, the back judge just stood there listening. Next play they give cove a sideline warning

Cove's QB sucked ass though. On 2 seperate drives he had WR's wide open going to the endzone and he over threw them. WIDE ING OPEN.

CCove was also outcoached bigtime. AH rans plays that the QB could get the ball out quickly, and alot of plays that bailed the QB out if there was pressure. Cove had like 10 yards rushing with the running back, but continured to run from under center doing PA when they were having no success. As opposed to everytime they ran shotgun the QB could see the field better and could run from.

Yeah Cambridge was awesome. What year you graduate from AH? I know you know Chris Sullivan and if it's the same Chris Sullivan from AH, we probably graduated same year.

cool. i graduated in 1999 and played football as well. its never too hard to remember the '99 class of football players cause there was like 12 of us....it was ridiculous. we had about 32 players on varsity. so naturally, a lot of us played both ways.

    1. sullivan started @ tailback and did some DB work along with many special teams
    2. wes sharples started @ QB and played DE
    3. edvin beasley started @ DB and played WR
    4. john diggs started on both sides of the line
    5. tony bryant started on both sides of the line
    6. cole cloud started @ SS and played TE
    7. i started @ DB, backed up sulli at RB and played WR along with returning kickoffs...well i did every special teams actually
    8. the other 5 seniors just played one way

sharples, beasley, diggs, bryant, cloud, and i really never left the field. so you can see why it was fairly difficult for us to go far into the playoffs. i was disappointed we lost in the first round, but considering our depth and that we drew Hays Consolidated......its hard to get down on ones self.

anyway, we had an amazing year cause there was so few of us and we were so tight knit. of the 32 players on varsity i'd say only about 22-23 played regularly....it seriously was nuts. they use to call us the "dirty 30"....smallest heights varsity team ever, i reckon.
