Edwards Shoots for White House Again

    By NEDRA PICKLER

    AP
NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Former vice presidential nominee John Edwards said Thursday that he is a candidate for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination, promising "a grass roots, ground-up campaign where we ask people to take action."

Will Edwards' populism be able to beat the Repugs corporatism and radical-religioinism?

The country voted against the Iraq war last month. I'm sure they will vote against the Iraq war in Nov 08.

The Dems, no matter whom they nominate, will surpass themselves in incompetence if they run against the Iraq war and lose.

The Republicans' theocratic movement is textbook populist, and please don't make the mistake of calling the Democrats anti-corporate.

The Repugs tricked rural/southern radical religonists into voting tax cuts for the rich.

Soc Sec reform wasn't a populist policy, but a corporate welfare program, and was rejected by the people.

Tricking people into voting against their best interests and not delivering on what the radical religionists wanted isn't true populism. The radicial religionists have pretty much moved away from the Repugs. I don't know where they are going next, but the Repugs have shot themselves in the foot there.

Dubya is functionally incompetent, but I'd rather vote Dubya in for a third term, than Edwards for his first.

Edward's would-be nomination represents the death of the Democratic party.

Edwards has zero chance of winning the Demo nomination for Prez in 08. This could be a move by Edwards to position himself for a Vice-Presidential slot with the right candidate down the road. Hillary-Edwards is one possibility.

This campaign is about each of us taking responsibility for our country's future -- and ensuring America’s greatness in the 21st century.
It is a campaign not just about what we can do in the White House -- but what we can do on the way.

We all must take responsibility and take action now to:

    • Provide moral leadership in the world
    • Strengthen our middle class and end poverty
    • Guarantee universal health care for every American
    • Lead the fight against global warming
    • Get America and other countries off our addiction to oil
If we want to live in a moral and just America tomorrow, we cannot wait until the next President is elected to begin to take action.

    Tomorrow begins today. Join us.

Heck, I'd rather have Hillary than Edwards. At least she has some grasp of the issues beyond Southern-lawyer boilerplate gobbledygook.

    John Edward's "Attention to detail"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AE847UXu3Q

He's running on too much of a liberal, isolationist, domestically oriented, feed the poor, help the hungry platform that's meant to appeal to sensitive, short-sighted Americans - as well as the ones looking for a free ride and a bail-out - as opposed to addressing the fact that there are Dumbsheets outside of America who still want to destroy us...

So, in effect, he actually IS on track to eliminate poverty and hunger in the USA, because, well, once our nation's major cities have become respectively similar to one, gigantic Tel Aviv, poverty and hunger will be concerns of the past..

Go Johnny!! ... I'd rather be mucked over while being an aggressive nation that mucked over by being passive, and letting the smucks hit america "One more time"

    Make that Shmucks

If a man is not a socialist by the time he is 20, he has no heart.
If he is not a conservative by the time he is 40, he has no brain.

No, but I remember when you were Regan's , and fought IRAN for him as a Proxy. The U.S. removed Iraq from its notoriously selective list of nations supporting international terrorism..despite the fact that terrorist Abu Nidal was based in the country and Washington extended a $400 million credit guarantee for U.S. exports to Iraq. In November 1984, the U.S. and Iraq restored diplomatic relations, which had been ruptured in 1967.

Yeah, that worked out so well for us. Now the rest of the M.E. looks at what's going on in Iraq and says "see what happens when you work with the U.S.?" and looks at the growing power and influence of Iran.

Churchill was an incompetent asshole in both his tenures as PM, with the single exception of his management of WWII. You don't really want to be playing the quote game with the kind of racist, deeply classist aristocrat who makes George W. Bush look like Nelson Mandela.

It's actually a ONE America platform. Ending poverty would benefit everyone, don't you think? Healthcare for everyone and ending poverty is bad? Really?

Helping Africa instead of bombing innocent people is a bad idea?

He's running on a real platform that noone has the guts to run on and I respect him for that win or lose.

You know, courage and guts doesn't always have to be about bombing and killing thousands of innocent people while claiming to be Christian.

    1. Ofcourse ending poverty would benefit society, because solving societal ills like poverty will in turn stablizie big cities, municipalities, suburbs, etc rampant with crime and instability. And if one has an unstable, renegade society, common man would find it harder to rise above his status level because his property rights could be easily taken away through theft, rioting or any other symptomatic outburst of having a low dysfunctional class as a collective, or by having no means able to have the law enforced in the case he was conspired against, or was fraud.(and i mean as a collective, because the individual in every class differs from each other, ie not everyone's the same.)

Here's some steps to curbing to poverty issue.

    A. America needs to provide a safe environment in the ghetto's and rural barrios by enforcing the law more vigorously. If we have criminals running rampant trying to recruit young innocents to their lifestyle, how are the young and innocent of those kind ever be able to study and recieve a good education. So by removing distractions in poverty stricken neighborhoods, sound education and economic stablity will arrive in those parts of america where they are missing.

2.Allow school vouchers, if an inner city parent feels as if his child isn't being productive because of the gang warfare and other vices occuring in that school district, he/she should be able to have the means to have his kid move to a private charter school oh their choice.

    3. Do away with the Earned income tax credit or limit it to only 2 children, (this shouldn't be done retroacitively, we should set a date when the govt will cease to support more than 2 children) that way we take the incentive of lower class women to have lots of kids in order to obtain free money that could go towards improving education and healthcare. This should also be applied to other programs like, wic, and so on.

    4. Enforce Border security and build a barracade or wall on the mexican border. Our inner city povern stricken citizens should not have to compete with foreigners for the same jobs. We need to take care of our own and then worry about Mexico.

This will also help with inner city crime since now most of the prison population is turning into an illegal interment camp.
