According to a few sites, the Dolphins are expected to release Joey Harrington sometime this week.

Jerry Jones was very high on him in the 2002 draft, and inquired about him when Detroit was shopping for a trade partner. Also, Jason Garrett was his QB coach in Miami. Don't be suprised if he comes in as Romo's backup this offseason.

Harrington could be one of the better backups in the league if he accepts that he isn't starter material. He's a head case, so that could go either way...

I think he has to accept a back up role now. There is no team in the league that will guarantee him a starting job. The best he can hope for is a chance to compete for the job in camp and lose.

He would be a good back up, though. If Romo goes down for a few games (God forbid), at least Joey has game experience and already knows Jason Garrett's style.

    How much $$$$$$

I would assume that he would be pretty cheap, considering nobody will offer him a starting job or starter's salary. He will probably get a few million a year at most.

We are scheduled to pay Bledsoe $5.5 million this yr if we don't cut him by March 2. So thats a good chunk money to use on a few players. I say offer a 3 yr $6 million....buts thats just me speculating. Who knows.

He would make a perfect back up. Also he started the season in Miami as the Back up, correct?

And we all saw what happened when Culpepper went down for the season and he was starter for a good portion of the season. Joey is good for 5 to 6 weeks, at best, and it may not even be that good.

I hate the cowgirls of irving, but Joey can be a very quality backup and possibly push for a starting role at many teams. I would put him above Carr or Plummer or Brad Johnson or AJ Feeley. Heck, I'd put him above Culpepper's knees as well, but the Fins have got bucks 'sewn up' in him.
