Dan Crawford is a very good ref.
I agree. I think most of them are very good. Crawford wrecked his entire crew for the game on Sunday, and I've never seen anything like that in any sport before.

Thank God. Even though I 100% believe Bennett Salvatore cost the Spurs the le last year with that ridiculous 6th on Duncan, I can live with it because it's just a blown call, and happens. Salvatore may be blind, but he's not an asshole looking to be bigger than the game. No one watches the NBA to see Joey Crawford, Steve Javie, or Bavetta.

Wasn't that Joey who made that call?

Hahah, I never laughed so hard after that stupid comment. Pistons completely worked your team and it had nothing to do with Crawford.
Yeah, you see 4 jump ball violations to open the first 4 games of the NBA Finals every day.

I know it hurts, but their was no way the league was going to allow the Lakers to win their 4th le in 5 years that season. It was simply not going to be allowed. They assigned almost idential crews of refs (a very small sample size by the way) to almost every game to ensure the outcome.

Look at the names of the "officials" who did that series and that is the list of guys that need to be fired. Every one of them.

Lakers were out of fouls with 8-9 minutes left in every quarter and Kobe was 'shut down' by Tayshaun Prince riding him like a rented mule without a whistle.

Don't you just hate good defense?

They called phantom jump ball violations to open the first 4 games of the series.

Everyone knows that series was fixed, it was not even hidden. .

    LMAO!!!!! how sad....

If it is true that Crawford is being suspended with pay, I would have to question why he is being paid. Joey is the worst of the worst, but at least ten other guys need to go also from the NBA officiating ranks.

Well they probably have to pay him so he can continue to pay the IRS for all his back taxes.

Shaq always jumps early to steal the tap. He should be called every time. And I guess Lakers lost becasue they didn't get the opening tap.

What's amazing is they give him that hesitation on the FT move.

And in the Spurs Laker series Malone was charging into Duncan on every shot trying to look like he was releasing to go up court.

    1) The NBA had to do this. Crawford was busted. ABC had the audio and had a camera pointed at Duncan as he was getting ejected. That was game over for Crawford.

    2) So much for the small media bias by the NBA. They could have easily swept this under the rug or even come down hard on Duncan, but they sided with San Antonio.

    3) Hopefully Joey Crawford is back in the NBA next season. He's an NBA lifer and I think this might finally give him the humility that he needs. He's usually a pretty good ref ... when it hasn't come to Duncan.

    4) The fallout from this will be interesting in regards to how other refs view the Spurs. Will they be tougher on Duncan and the Spurs because they had a hand in taking down a ref? Will they let the Spurs get away with more because they don't want to get disciplined by the league? Hopefully it's neither and the Spurs just get a fair shake, but human nature will make a ref react to a Duncan situation different now.

It was only good defense when Karl Malone was playing it and there were no whistles. It was overly physical bullying when Tayshaun was playing it and there were no whistles.

I'm guessing he most likely did. I'd be surprised to ever see him officiate another NBA game again.

Well they did say they would have a meeting with him after the season to discuss his responsibilities.

I expressed this same concern in another thread. I think it's natural that referees will have strong feelings about this, and it's totally reasonable to believe that those feelings will somehow affect the way they call the Spurs, whether it's conscious on their part or not.

That wsa my paranoid feeling yesterday. Doesn't take much to sway a game. A couple of fouls to send a guy to the bench. Hopefully Duncan doesn't get the Olympics' treatment. We'll see.

There is something to be said for bowing out gracefully and stopping while you're ahead.
