Phil Jackson. It's pretty apparent that what he was good at was picking his first two jobs. Michael and Scotty. Shaq and Kobe. 'Nuff said. Both teams had made the conference finals before he got there.
Without that killer combo, he's been exposed as quite ordinary, missing the playoffs, and getting dismissed (in one more game) by a gimmick team. I mean, at least with one star, Flip Saunders pretty consistently at least made the playoffs.
Phil rode on the coattails of Tex Winters' offense, and a veritable galaxy of stars. Sleeping with the owner's daughter couldn't have hurt, either.
