Just curious ... Is this the first time that both teams who were in the finals the previous year lost in the 1st round?

    Another interesting note:

The Mavs were just the 12th team in league history to win 65 games or more. Ten of the other 11 went on to win the championship, with only the 1972-73 Boston Celtics -- who featured a certain Don Nelson -- falling short when they failed to use a 68-14 record as the springboard to a le largely because of an injury in the conference finals suffered by John Havlicek.

Ernie Johnson said you had to go back 50 years for the last time the 2 Finals Teams were knocked out in the 1st round the next season!

Where's that thread that shows the only teams in NBA history to have 60 wins in three of 5 seasons and how they did following.

This means Dallas = Jazz, Nowinski = Malone

On TNT last night they were saying Havlicek played that whole series left-handed because of his injury... and that team lost to the champs in game 7, after coming back from down 3-1 to force it.

It is, however, the first time since the First round was extended to 7 games...
