Cap room is not the problem. It's the luxury tax. They have the MLE.

i think oberto has worked out the buyout and whatnot. i believe he is definitely coming to play for houston.
I assume that you mean Scola - but I have yet to read anything regarding his buyout being finalized (although I find it hard to believe that Houston would not have done their homework before pulling the trigger on this deal). If by chance Scola does not complete the buyout, I think ALL Spurs fans will be dancing.

it was the only jersey I could find at the time that fit the jersey switch, plus Udoka wears #5 for Portland, but ofcourse he would wear a different number if he signed here

The only recent mention of the number 25 that I can recall, is that Splitter stated that he likes that number. He'll likely wear it next season when he comes over due to Duncan occupying his current number.

IMHO, this has been one of the strangest off-seasons in recent memory. There are still better than average FAs out there (Barnes, Udoka, Brown, Henderson, Boykins, Davis, etc.) and it seems that in the past teams would be "over-spending" for these guys. As it stands, you rarely even hear anything about these players let alone the buzz of years past. Perhaps teams have wisened up and refuse to overspend (of course except for Toronto ) in hopes of avoiding Luxury Tax penalties. Perhaps I'm just impatient (like many others) and watching this off-season closer and this is how it has always been.

    I was just teasin'.

I was just yankin' your chain in regards to over-spending for above average players - as it appears that fewer teams are doing in nowadays. IMHO Kapono was not even an MLE player, but he got more than that. I have to admit though that you have a great FO in place when it comes to evaluating talent, so I'll defer to them.

The Spurs FO are the perpetual tortoise in the FA race. They rarely make their moves quickly. Perhaps they'll get their act together during the Rodeo Road trip.

    IME UDOKA
There's still no word on where the small forward is going to end up or even what team Udoka is in negotiation with (if any). His agent, Erin Cowan, has not returned several phone messages, including one Monday. I know this: The Blazers still aren't suitors.
"I haven't talked with his agent in over a week," Pritchard said. "It's still highly unlikely (Udoka re-signs with the Blazers)."

When you are the defending Champions, its not much of hard sell to get FA's. We can afford to wait.
