Rasho defends Yao better than just about anyone.
I do think the Spurs need one traditional center on their roster to be well-balanced.
Coming from someone who used to personally heckle him in college, the name is Oster .
Just think, if he did play for us, the Spurs can would not only have had the 1st player to return from receiving a kidney transplant, but also the 1st player to return after donating a kidney.
What a long, strange trip it’s been
We’re officially in March, and from a sports standpoint, quite frankly, there’s really nothing to talk about. Fortunately, this is why God invented pointless lists — to save wannabe columnists from having to write flowing, coherent thoughts when there’s nothing going on. So, this list goes out to God.
Hmmm, let me think. Okay — we’ll call this list the “Top Five Strangest NBA Stories of the Year, So Far.”
No. 4: Greg Ostertag dances in cheerleader shorts during a pre-game show. Perennial All-Star snub Greg Ostertag apparently lost a bet to several of his Sacramento Kings teammates, forcing him to dance on the court, in front of cheerleaders, while wearing a t-shirt tucked into tiny cheerleader-type shorts. I think this was actually the longest time Ostertag spent on the court all season. (Two side notes here: First, I had no idea Greg Ostertag was on the Kings until I wrote this. I thought he was still on the Jazz. I don’t know if that says less about my knowledge of sports, or more about the prowess of Greg Ostertag. Also, this is the second consecutive column in which I’ve mentioned Greg Ostertag, and I think it’s safe to say that has never happened before in the history of journalism. Where do I pick up my award?)

pathetic
but a player like Mutombo I would love to see

seriously?
I remember playing EA NBA 1999? on the pc. my cousing would always pick the jazz and would bring his goon Ostertag to beat up on my 32 bit players.
he would yell "OSTENTAG!! OSTENTAG!!"
I would tell him "Ostergag ing sucks"
Maybe you're blind by your Rasho hate but Rasho is more than a big stiff. A reason why Rasho plays good D on a player like Yao is that he has solid defensive fundamentals.
Rasho having success against Yao doesn't mean that big centers are the answer to defend Yao.
The best way to handle Yao is to make him run.
Get an athlete.
Get this dude

I like it - nobody's going to bump with him in the post, and if he comes down on someone's foot, he's not going to hurt his ankle (someone else's perhaps).
^ That dude is big, but the scouting report on him from the zoologists is that he's too slow. He'll get called for 3 seconds on both sides of the ball no matter where he is.
I spotted Ostertag at the airport, so I'm guessing whoever said he worked out for the spurs was tellling the truth.
i said it , and he was definately here. i can also tell you he IS tryin to get back in the nba. so if he's in shape , don't be surprised to see him next season.
Given we've signed Mahnimi, it won't be with us; that is 6 bigs with contracts for this season - Duncan, Horry, Bonner, Oberto, Elson, Mahnimi.
right, sorry. somewhere in the league
Is he another applicant for the " be a veteran; win a ring" program the Spurs offer?

Ostertag is the penultimate "big white stiff." I'd rather we sign Greg Brady than Greg Ostertag.
1. Who is the ultimate, S. Bradley?
2. Why is this thread 5 pages long? Unbelievable.
The season can't start soon enough!![]()
Ostertag's only major problem is he wasted so much of his career playing for a loser. Yes, I'm referring to Jerry Sloan. What the else can you call Sloan?
18 ing years, in the same town, same building, same organization, and twice Sloan had a golden opportunity to win a championship (97 + 98) and fritters it away with stupid choices, and missed free throws from his not-so-hot super dude, Karl Malone.
That's Ostertag's mistake. Spurs would be most fortunate, beyond their dreams, if they could land Ostertag. Retired for a year? Who cares. Several future hall of famers have ducked out for a spell and come back. Ostertag is not the first.
With a good coach like Pop, I would expect to see Ostertag shine line never before. Maybe nobody wants Ostertag because of "other factors", which no doubt would be best not to even mention.
Perhaps Spurs should stick with their long-standing tradition of raking in players from everywhere in the world but the USA. Hey, who the needs an American guy, right? Didn't they change the country's name recently to United International States of America, or something like that?
Retired for a year? Who cares. Several future hall of famers have ducked out for a spell and come back. Ostertag is not the first.@ mentioning Ostertag and the HOF in the same paragraph. Greg Ostertag is an unmotivated , and that may be why the Jazz never won.
Ostertag is big but with no talent - we used to watch him play in highschool and he was stiff and unathletic even then. I don't question his motivation - afterall he DID play in the NBA for several years which was remarkable given his lack of ability.
ostertag looks like that freak in total recall
What's his ring size........................
