Jeff McDonald: Best Shootaround Ever
The Spurs just completed what is typically their most unusual shootaround of the season. In preparation for tonight's exhibition against Euroleague champion Panathinaikos, the Spurs held their one annual open practice at the AT&T Center this morning.
A couple hundred people showed up to watch the Spurs go through a light workout. The result was the only shootaround of the year to be perpetually interrupted with guttural screams from the stands: "Toneeeeeeeeeey! Parkeeerrrrrrrr!"
Every other shootaround this season will be closed to the public.
Most humorous moment of the morning came as P.A. announcer Stan Kelly, in full mid-season form, introduced each team member as they practiced.
"NO. 21 TIM DUNCAN!!!!"
(raucous applause)
"NO. 20 MANU GINOBILIIIIIII!"
(even more raucous applause)
"IAN MAHINMI!!!!!"
(confused golf clap)
Mahinmi, it seems, is going to have to earn his name recognition. One preseason game at a time.

Kinda funny though.
I went a few years back at the Dome. It was fun. They shoot around and run some standard drills, primarily 3 on 3s.
Beno should be at this shootaround on a wheelchair because walking with his broken finger is too painful.
Beno can't make it. He's in a ho e.
