ive always been of the belief that no player is untouchable. if the deal is right, any player can be traded. but some players have values that are so high, that it would be nearly impossible for two teams to both be happy with any deal. duncan fits into this category. so does yao (hes a cash cow, and a damn good player) and lebron (ditto). kobe would also be on this list, if it wasnt for the whining and trade demands.

what if Duncan ask for a trade?
I can't see that he ever would.
He's been happy in SA, happy with his coach, his team, his organization.
I think he thrives in the smaller market.
The FO would have to do something drastic to change that.
The FO isn't stupid. This is Duncan's team. They won't with him.

what if Duncan ask for a trade?
Why would he? It is HIS franchise. That's like suggesting that MJ would've asked the Bulls to trade him. Simply not going to happen.

    Spurs---Duncan=symbiotic relationship.

Actually, MJ made some noise about wanting out at least once...

He wasn't one on the best of terms with the Bull's FO. Didn't get along with Krause...

No team would ever seriously offer for TD. They know he will not leave, SA will not entertain or humor offers nor would they even kid around.

Also, I think Tim Duncan is the kind of guy that may retire early, rather than hang on past his time.

Yeah i really don't see Tim Duncan playing well into his late 30's when he has won so much and really has nothing left to prove to anyone.

Chump - totally agree. Yao>TD WTF??????

Actually, MJ made some noise about wanting out at least once...

He wasn't one on the best of terms with the Bull's FO. Didn't get along with Krause...
Yeah, I know, but the thing was it was only MJ flexing his ego. He knew where he belonged, and he stayed there. Even though he hated Krause, as did Pip, Krause kept putting the right players next to them so they stayed there and won six rings. But, point taken - the situation is a little different - the Bulls' situation was far more volatile!

OTOH, Tim is smart enough that he will never feel the need to flex his ego for the sake of it - he's content with who he is. And RC ain't Krause. And the Spurs are as STABLE as they come.

Check out the number of people here who think the TD championship winning era is coming to a close:

    http://www.poundingtherock.com/story...0/10/11252/368

What are they, NUTS??? He's 31!?!? Tony and Manu are here for at least another 3 years, and we have young talent waiting in the wings. We have to get younger at the swing positions, but that's why they cleared all the capspace for next year.

This is why I appreciate ST - so many people out there don't have a bloody clue. In here, most people do.
