Its probably because he wasn't a guy to back down like Yao or Timmy. He never knew the physicality of the center position.

Again, that's just what fans tell themselves to feel better about a loss at the time it occurs (which you guys really dont need to be doing anyway , given history).
The Spurs wont be any better or worse at the end of the year if they're 65-17 than they will if they are 55-27. They'll be the same old playoff ass-kicking Spurs who will have a good shot at a le.
I'm all about the "facing adversity" notion, but this isn't adversity. A 4 time champion can't experience much adversity in the regular season.
