"I'd say what she has is far more explosive than the Pentagon Papers," Daniel Ellsberg told us in regard to former FBI translator turned whistleblower Sibel Edmonds.
"From what I understand, from what she has to tell, it has a major difference from the Pentagon Papers in that it deals directly with criminal activity and may involve impeachable offenses," Ellsberg explained. "And I don't necessarily mean the President or the Vice-President, though I wouldn't be surprised if the information reached up that high. But other members of the Executive Branch may be impeached as well. And she says similar about Congress."
The BRAD BLOG spoke recently with the legendary 1970's-era whistleblower in the wake of our recent exclusive, detailing Edmonds' announce that she was prepared to risk prosecution to expose the entirety of the still-classified information that the Bush Administration has "gagged" her from revealing for the past five years under claims of the arcane "State Secrets Privilege".
Ellsberg, the former defense analyst and one-time State Department official, knows well the plight of whistleblowers. He himself was prepared to spend his life in prison for the exposure of some 7,000 pages of classified Department of Defense do ents, concerning Executive Branch manipulation of facts and outright lies leading the country into an extended war in Vietnam.
Ellsberg seemed hardly surprised that today's American mainstream broadcast media has so far failed to take Edmonds up on her offer, despite the blockbuster nature of her allegations.
As Edmonds has also alluded, Ellsberg pointed to the New York Times, who "sat on the NSA spying story for over a year" when they "could have put it out before the 2004 election, which might have changed the outcome."
"There will be phone calls going out to the media saying 'don't even think of touching it, you will be prosecuted for violating national security,'" he told us.
"I have been receiving calls from the mainstream media all day," Edmonds recounted the day after we ran the story announcing that she was prepared to violate her gag-order to disclose all of the national security-related criminal allegations she has been kept from disclosing for the past five years.
"The media called from Japan and France and Belgium and Germany and Canada and from all over the world," she told The BRAD BLOG.
"But not from here?," we asked incredulously.
"I'm getting contact from all over the world, but not from here. Isn't that disgusting?," she shot back...
So why doesn't she tell the world through the world's media outlets that have called her?
This is sounding more and more like bs with every story.
If the right media outlet doesn't kiss her ass in just the right way, then what? She just dies without saying anything that will change/save/end the world?

Well, I think that she is looking for the expensive legal protection that the M$M can provide, remember she's already been threatened that if she talks about what she knows, she goes to jail...and in America if its not reported by CNN, FAUX News, ABC, or NBC it simply never happened.....my thoughts are that she is worried that the M$M will bury her allegations, no matter how earth shattering they are, remember, I post stuff that would be just as earth shattering, if the M$M would do their job and investigate it, but they don't, and people learn about these things years later when some BS has been spun to justify their illegal behavior...like the telecoms providing illegal info to the feds.....or the rendition and extradition of M.E. immigrants for merely being on a Terra watch list....
If it's really that mind-blowing there will be an army of lawyers ready to take her case. In effect she is saying she is more important than this information, so iIcan only conclude that this woman fancies herself as being more important than the United States of America or that her information isn't as big a deal as you've made it out to be.

Nothing really makes me think it would -- once these things get out they get reposted everywhere else. Which blogs have been shut down for this kind of story lately? Inclined to agree with CD here. If the facts and do ents she holds are so mind-blowing and important, then where that info is released isnt nearly so.
That report and its contents could be posted on the net simutaneously across the world on thousands of different hosts, where she could concurrently appear on BBC explaing the finer details.
BBC is broadcast everywhere in the world (including here). If it is as important as they make it sound, the format will not matter in the slightest.

Many of the accusations Sible Edmounds is ready to make have already been made before, and as explosive as they really are - spying, selling out the government, lying to the American people, out right treason - they have never, ever, been investigated by the M$M....so I don't see why Chumpy thinks that if she just posts it on some liberal blog that the M$M will all of the sudden wake up and start investigating - not gonna happen...
So she has already said what she had to say?

Common Chumpy, do a little research - her story was made 'retro-actively' top-secret by Dubya after she had already published some of her accusations on the web... , I remember a few years back, I posted a lot of her accusations....So she has already said what she had to say?
So she refuses to make the accusations she has already made unless she gets full editorial control of one of the major US media outlets.

Legal protection Chumpy - liberal blogs can't protect her if the FEDS come-down on her for revealing what they consider to be state secrets - they are more likely to throw her and the owners of any blog in Gitmo...now if the M$M did their job and investigated her accusations like they should have years ago - then public outrage would make this much less likely...
