Arenas has meniscus surgery, out three months
    ESPN.com news services

    Updated: November 21, 2007, 5:54 PM ET

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Gilbert Arenas had surgery Wednesday to repai or torn meniscus and says he'll be out for three months, according to report on the Washington Post's Web site.

Arenas originally hurt his knee last April. He hurt it again last Friday at Minnesota. He underwent an MRI in Washington on Wednesday, which found the tear.

"It's a downer because I really thought I was getting back," Arenas said. "It's a big setback but I guess I'll start all over again."

The Post said Arenas won't be able to handle any basketball-related activity for at least three weeks and could be cleared to practice in three months.

"Everything just started hurting after the game," Arenas said. "The pain came out of nowhere."

That's ed . If Blatche has game like last night though they'll be OK, but that's unlikely. Wizs had nice streak going though.

This looks like an excellent draft this year, and it's a great season for Washington to tank. They weren't going anywhere with their current team, so this could be a real blessing for them.

They can now have the chance to tank the season and have their choice of either Derrick Rose or Michael Beasley.

Bummer. Why are these players getting these kind of injuries nowadays? Am I wrong, or the Magic and Jordan eras never had these type of injuries?

i think Washington could be better without Arenas. He's by far the most selfish player in the league. Gilbert Arenas makes Kobe look like Jason Kidd.

It's kind of a long shot but I'm hoping for Andray Blatche to breakout. IMO he has loads of potential in him.

Sucks for Arenas. Hopefully he can make a full recovery.

That said, I don't think this is a death sentence for the Wizards. Arenas is good but they have enough talent to win without him. In fact, I wouldn't be shocked to see them stay in the playoff race. AD can step in at point and with the emergence of Andray Blatche, they could stay around .500 ... which means they'll be in great playoff position in the East.

I'm not sure Arenas is actually going to return this season ...

Team physician Dr. Marc Connell repaired a partial tear of the meniscus and performed microfracture surgery on a non-weight bearing bone on the side of his knee.
Microfracture? Sounds like he's done for the season, especially considering he's a free agent. If he comes back too soon and hurts his knee further, he could really take a hit in free agency. As it is, he'll be lucky to get the contract offer he got this summer during this upcoming offseason.

He is but remember he was hurt last year and now it's just a continuance of that. Not really the same cover jinx

They are going to stay in the playoff race
Look at Antonio Daniels' stat when he replaced Arenas in the playoffs:
