you thought the mavs failed in the playoffs, we're about to see the greatest postseason failure in the history of sports in 2 weeks...i hope anyway
Well, you took what I said a little further than it was intended. But whatever.
Ugh...the stupid AP wires are going off like crazy.
you thought the mavs failed in the playoffs, we're about to see the greatest postseason failure in the history of sports in 2 weeks...i hope anyway
I'm not sure I get the "arrogant" comment. To me, the Patriots look focused on the sidelines -- thinking less about having just scored and more about trying to figure how to get the next score, or the next stop. They've certainly had a lot of opportunities to celebrate big plays this season, but great teams have that opportunity. Do you want them to not celebrate when things go well? Do you want them to feel bad about the fact that they're really, really good -- historically good?
Look at all those asshole Pats fans, smiling and what not. Even the fans are arrogant pricks.
Wow, glad that game is finally over so I can stop cheering for the Giants. I feel dirty now.
pats acting like these arrogant pricks who smile all the time...

who do they think they are, smiling?? talk about arrogant.
Well, Midge...way to go...you've taken what i said and turned it around...Took FWD with you.
I never said they shouldn't be happy.
With that fun, I'm off. Time to head home.
I read your "arrogant" comment completely independent of anything that Midge said. Please don't assume that I'm not reaching conclusions by myself.
Midge is mocking you -- I understand why that's the case.
You said
I'm asking you to explain in more detail just what you mean, because, frankly, I don't see whatever it is that you're claiming you see.
I was kidding FWD....I just forgot my. I was trying to get the heck out of work.
Now that I'm home, I will explain why their actions bother me so much.
It's not that I don't think they shouldn't be happy or celebrate, but I do think they take it too far.
I don't like showy people or showy actions. High-fiving or hip-bumping is one thing...
but dancing or throwing arms in the air like they're God...pretending to be filming the other team, proposing to cheerleaders (the list goes on and on)...I hate that sort of thing. And while some of those things weren't done tonight, there were actions from the Patriots team that were just as obnoxious. If I had Tivo/DVR and could download examples, I would.
I don't know. I'm a Spurs fan/Colts fan, and these aren't things you really see from those teams, and that's part of the reason why I like them so much. They just play and then move on.
And yes, I am also a Cowboys fan...and yes, TO's actions irk me too...but, I don't have the opportunity to watch their games as much living in an NFL town. I miss a lot of games...but by golly, I get to see the stupid Patriots almost every week.
So anyway, I don't mind celebrating to an extent. Players should when they do something well...but geez...try to act like it's been done before (scoring, not going undefeated.)
at the Cavs fans in the back
We'll see if they can close the deal. I still say there is more pressure on them now.
I enjoy watching the Pats because they remind me of the Spurs. Only Belichik isn't charming in the slightest like Pop is.
You mean like this?

I suppose my point of quarreling with you is that you still have yet to produce a specific example applicable to these Patriots in support of your argument. I, frankly, have no idea how to identify when a player is "throwing arms in the air like [he's] God," so I suppose it would help me to understand your contention for you to explain what that means. I see players celebrating big plays by raising their arms in the air (as the foregoing illustration demonstrates) but don't associate that particular gesture with arrogance. You suggest that Patriots games are rife with these sorts of acts but fail to specifically identify a single act undertaken by a Patriot is that is somehow unique to that team or its players. Pardon me if I'm skeptical of your point.
Yeah, you know, I see exactly the same thing from the Patriots, but I must just be imagining that.
Frankly, I suspect that a great deal of your complaint about the Patriots has less to do with an objective evaluation of their actions and a whole lot to do with the fact that its the Patriots who undertake those actions. I have a friend who absolutely hates the Colts and is convinced that there is no more arrogant player in the league, on the field at least, than Peyton Manning. I don't think that's a correct statement, but, as demonstrated above, I also don't think that there's an unreasonable arrogance about the Patriots either. My point is that preferences for particular teams can (and do) often create subjective impressions of teams that aren't really justifiable. Thus, I suspect that if a Patriots player and a Colts player undertook precisely the same act, you'd be more willing to deem the Patriots player to be arrogant and the Colts player to be merely celebrating.
I'm still baffled by your argument. How exactly are the Patriots celebrating routine scores in any way that differs from the usual way in which NFL players celebrate those occasions?
Good place to look for Patriots players being arrogant, s, or both is Brady's postgame following the Ravens game. That was filled with tons of "I know I'm great and you all can kiss my ass" innuendo.
If the Pats win the Super Bowl I will not post here for a year.
Absolutely true. I mean things like:
"It was a great game and give credit to the Ravens. They are an experienced team and they play hard, and just kept clawing back."
and
"That's football. I've been in a lot of games on the other side. [There were] a lot of questionable calls out there, and you just keep playing and make plays when you need them. We made a lot of plays under pressure, and that's what we need down the stretch."
and
"It was a long drive, which came down to third downs and fourth downs. We executed when we needed to. A lot of those calls definitely helped us out."
and
"Most of it for three quarters didn't go in our favor. On the road, tough environment against a team that has won a lot of games in the last few years. It was tough."
are pretty telling of extreme degrees of arrogance. About the only thing that Brady said that might be construed to have been "arrogant" was his statement that he would have made the first down on the fourth down play that was whistled dead for the Ravens' timeout -- but even that comment could at least be reasonably construed as an attempt at being funny.
LOL!! Good stuff. JT is just a blind homer who thinks that Peyton Manning is Gods gift of quarterbacks. News Flash: Hes not the best QB in the game and he doesn't have the beat team.
I'm not a Pats fan but I'm pretty sure we all know thier a great team.
As for celebrating and stuff.
Heres what professionals should look like:

Brady and Manning should do that.
putting your arms up in the air.
Best team ever. 2008 Superbowl champs baby! Start making plans for the championship parade people. Feb 5th! Man im excited. It's too bad we cant simulate the postseason like on madden. This team is simply unbeatable. Brady>Montana, Moss>Rice,Bilichick=GOD! Amazing season and it WILL conclude with a 4th championship! SUPERBOWL CHAMPS BABY!!
It will be the greatest sports season ever if Patriots can murder Colts and cowboys by 20 + and of course the spurs win another le. that should not have been penalties on moss and late hit onsidelines was leagal. refs made game closer than actual.
I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree because I do think they're arrogant. I do have a major hate toward the Patriots, so yes, perhaps I see something, or see it in a way that you don't.
But I also work with guys who are fans of other teams that don't HATE the Patriots, and they've said the same thing. I know I can't possibly be the only person who sees this...and it's NOT just because I'm a Colts fan.
Moving on.
