It doesn't necessarily have to be McFadden but any decent runningback that can replace Jones. I'm tired of his ass.
No, but first round picks obviously have enough physical gifts to warrant being taken that early. Reggie Williams was a top-10 pick. If you're saying that Reggie Williams & Matt Jones aren't as talented as Roydell Williams & Justin Gage, you're insane.
Garrard has 3 large, fast receivers.....and maybe the fact that none of them have been extremely successful has something to do with their QB having to have the offense simplified to a high school level in order to play well. Not that Leftwich was great, but they all had better numbers with Byron playing QB because, despite his injuries and lack of mobility, Leftwich knew how to run an NFL level passing game.
And despite being deactivated for half the season, Matt Jones was still second on the team in TD catches. He's got incredible skills, the reason he was deactivated and benched was personal between him and Del Rio, not football related.
Garrard has offensive weapons out the ass. Vince Young has...........Lendale White?

The Jags may not have great recievers, but at least they don't drop half the passes that are right in their hands every single week. I'll take those guys over the an's core any day.
I don't think the cowboys would try to get McFadden, Im sure someone will try to trade up to get him.
The historical record regarding receiver statistics under Leftwich disagrees with your claims here. The receiver who had decent numbers was Jimmy Smith.
Nobody's talking about Jimmy Smith. How did you even come up with that name? When was he ever mentioned? We're talking Reggie Williams, Matt Jones, & Ernest Wilford. And they all had more success with Leftwich than with Garrard.
I wouldn't voluntarily take either core. I wouldn't mind a qb who could get the receivers the ball though.
A QB wouldn't mind recievers who don't drop the balls and know how to run their routes correctly. See every single great (or even just good) QB in NFL history.
What are you talking about? This was by far Reggie Williams best year as a pro. Wilford's numbers are pretty much the same; ty.
Jones didn't play nearly as much as years prior so he doesn't even belong in the conversation.
by far? did you see him make a couple nice catches on ESPN and immediately pass judgement? he caught 10 TD's but he also had only THIRTY EIGHT receptions for the entire year. That's 14 less than his previous best.
Like I said, if you actually watched the Jaguars you'd know that offensively the team was much more fluid with Leftwich, but his injury history and lack of mobility gave them trouble. It wasn't until Jones-Drew emerged that Garrard ever looked like a halfway competent QB.
Matt Jones & Reggie Williams both were turning into very solid playmaking WR's with Leftwich. With Garrard, WR's are almost a non-factor because he can't read defenses for , so everything had to be dumbed down to the point where it's nothing but checkdowns and screens. This year he's improved a bit, but most of that has to do with having a guy as explosive as Jones-Drew there. With the talent he has around him, there's no reason the Jaguars shouldn't have a passing attack that rivals the Cowboys & Colts. Unfortunately their QB has almost no ability to throw the ball downfield (not due to arm strength, but due to cluelessness on how to find the open man downfield, anticipate where the defense is going, or look off a safety).
seriously, know what the you're talking about before you say anything at all.
I came up with Jimmy Smith when fact-checking your statement, because he is the only Jaguars receiver to gain over 1,000 yards since the end of the Mark Brunell era. You reiterate the notion that there has been some meaningful dropoff in the statistical success of Jaguars receivers since Garrard took the helm. I just don't see it in the statistics, except for Matt Jones, and his decline can be more easily explained as his being in Del Rio's doghouse.

Yeah your numbers wouldn't be complete bull except for the fact that Leftwich never played a full season, and each of the past 2 years before Leftwich's departure, Garrard played a portion of the season as well. Throw in a Matt Jones injury in 2006 as well. Full season numbers don't tell anything of the story.
If there were such a notable difference between the two quarterbacks, wouldn't even the partial contribution of Byron Leftwich to his receiver's stats be evident?
10 TDs(previous best of 4) and a YPC significantly better(5 yards per) than any year with Leftwich.
The most 20+, 40+ and 1st down catches of his career.
Maybe you should watch a little closer.
he was developing into a possession receiver with Leftwich. He's nothing but a deep threat/decoy with Garrard. They send him deep and throw everything underneath to Northcutt/Jones-Drew. Ocassionally when left wide open he'll get a bone tossed his way, and he makes good on it.
It's really a shame since he's far too talented to simply be a deep threat that rarely gets used. If he had a QB who knew how to deliver a ball downfield with any consistency, he'd be an 80 catch/1000 yard receiver easy. Same with Matt Jones. , after his failure in Indy, Quinn Gray turned out to be a better downfield passer than Garrard. Just like you focus far too much on VY's passer rating, you completely miss the picture here as well. Like I said, instead of spouting stats off ESPN.com, find out what the you're talking about and then comment.
I won't argue that Leftwich had a much stronger arm than Garrard does, or that he could make more of the throws, or that Garrard was awful at the end of 2006, but it's hard to argue with the efficiency of the Jags' passing game this year. Garrard made major strides in his ability to read defenses this year. Last year, if the first receiver wasn't open, rather than making his progressions, he'd take off and run. This obviously has changed this season, as he ran 20% less often relative to the number of times he dropped back to pass.
If he is just a stupid quarterback with a defective arm who cannot read defenses and just has to dink and dunk, then how is he seventh in the league in yards per attempt? How is he also seventh in touchdown percentage? If he cannot read defenses, how does he throw only three interceptions all year?
Is it perhaps just that the Jags were more aesthetically pleasing with Leftwich's better vertical game?
If I'm rooting for a real team as opposed to a fantasy team, especially one with the Jags' running backs, I'm perfectly happy with a quarterback who converts third downs and doesn't turn the ball over. Garrard is perhaps the best example of the "game manager" QB.
What are you talking about? You said he had better years with Leftwich. When exactly was that? The half catch per game? You act like he went from 80 catches to 35.
And I don't focus on VY's passer rating. It's his ability to read a defense and throw the ball accurately over 10 yards. His WRs haven't helped him out at all. They are the worst set of WRs in the playoffs, possibly the entire league. He has still sucked this year. He should have been better than he was the second half of the year. He should be worlds better next year, though it isn't quite the lock the most thought it would be.
And I still think the ans should trade for Roy Williams. He wants to be closer to Texas and should help out VY tremendously.
I think that would be a GREAT move for the ans. Or someone like Anquan Boldin.
It makes too much sense for both teams, a bona fide deal killer under the Millen regime.
LOL
No matter what VY ever does in any situation, he'll always get hate from s who wish he had gone to their school and won them a national championship against the biggest stinkiest pussy former champs of all time
