Effective cold/flu remedies

I usually don't take OTC meds except Tylenol but this flu is kicking my butt and I need to take something. What do you guys recommend? Does any of it actually work?

TheraFlu warming liquid. Knocks you right out and you will wake up feeling better. Not necessarily well, mind you but better.

Nothing actually "works" to kill the virus, except anti-viral meds which are expensive and only shorten the average 5-day cold by 1/2 a day, it's all about symptom amelioration. Anything with ibuprofen, codeine and a cough suppressant works for me.

Seems like Theraflu is a mixture of acetaminophen (paracetamol), pseudoephedrine (pseudo-speed, a broncho-dilator/decondestant) and chloropheniramine (an antihistamine), so take the night formulation if you want to sleep.
