Rivers played with a torn ACL while LT sat out with a bruised vagina?

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers said Monday that he had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee a week ago in order to play in the AFC championship game, and that he'll need surgery on the torn anterior cruciate ligament in the same joint.
Rivers made it through Sunday's 21-12 loss to the perfect New England Patriots despite the damage to his knee, which he sustained in an upset win over the Indianapolis Colts a week earlier.
Rivers said he'd like to have surgery as soon as possible on the torn ACL.
"It's gone," he said. "I don't know exactly the details on that. I'll be ready by training camp."
Rivers said he had arthroscopic surgery a week earlier to clean out damaged cartilage.

"It wasn't real extensive, but I mean, really that was the only way I would have had a chance to play by doing that on Monday," he said. "I thought maybe I could come back in the Colts game but it was catching. That's what we did on Monday to give me the chance to play on Sunday."
Running back LaDainian Tomlinson said he's not going to need surgery on the sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee, which he originally hurt in the Indianapolis game.
Tomlinson carried only twice Sunday, both in the game's first drive, and caught a short screen pass the following series before retiring to the sideline for good.
Tomlinson said he'll probably sit out the Pro Bowl.
hey, you have no idea what it's like to play with a bruised vagina! i bet you've never played sports ever in your life!
Tomlinson said he'll probably sit out the Pro Bowl
ya think he will probably sit out the Pro Bowl. If he plays in the Pro Bowl then I would be super pissed if I was a Chargers fan.
He will not put it on the line for the AFC Championship, but will put it up for the Pro Bowl.
rivers had a torn ACL.....they should never had let him play at all.
Rivers apparently had an arthroscopic surgery between the Colts game and the Patriots game -- that's one tough dude.
Shows how much Rivers really wanted it...meanwhile LT shows the world again he's a sulking little .

Questions about LT’s toughness are comical to teammates

As Charger players cleaned out their lockers Monday following their final team meeting of the 2007 season, they paused for a little comic relief as they listened to the talking heads question LaDainian Tomlinson’s toughness after he missed most of the AFC Championship Game with a sprained knee.
“That’s foolish,” offensive tackle Marcus McNeill said. “If LT can go, he’s going to go. He knows how big of a part of this team he is. Just for anybody to criticize him is disappointing to hear.”
Tomlinson suffered a hyper-extended knee in the Bolts’ Divisional Playoff win at Indianapolis, spraining his MCL. <<<<This should answer Mono's question about it being called both a hyperextension and an MCL strain, but he'll choose to ignore the facts. The injury normally requires a four-week rehabilitation period, but Tomlinson wanted so bad to be on the field against New England that he pushed his way through it.
“My thinking last week was it was going to take some time, but I figured I’d be able to play through it and try to go,” said the NFL’s two-time defending rushing champion. “For most people it’s four weeks. I tried to play in one week. I tried to tough it out. It just wouldn’t allow me to do anything.”
LT was on the field for the first two series Sunday, but after being hit on the first play, he re-aggravated the injury and knew he wouldn’t be effective.
“If I would have played, I clearly wouldn’t have been affective,” Tomlinson said. “When you have a sprained MCL, you can’t cut like your normal self. Your knee drags. You can’t explode. Any time you get hit it shifts a little bit. It’s unstable.”
Tomlinson’s spectator status caused some to criticize him for not gutting it out during such an important game. But with his physical limitations, coaches and team doctors decided it was best to keep the former NFL MVP on the sidelines.
“People who know LT and people who have watched him play, it’s not having all the information,” Head Coach Norv Turner said. “I know sometimes information is hard to get, but if there was a way LT could have gotten back in that game he would have.”
Tomlinson urged his critics to look at his history of playing through pain.
“I’ve played in games that were meaningless and was kind of banged up but I still played,” Tomlinson said. “It didn’t mean anything. For me to get to this point and really couldn’t play, I’ve fought through a lot of stuff and this was something that I really couldn’t do. It was a horrible situation.”
========================
What a big ing pussy. Trying to play in 1 week on an injury that takes 4 weeks to heal.
What is amazing is that LT really hasn't missed a game his entire career.
And yet he tries to come back and play in the biggest game of his career instead of sitting out the usual four weeks and he's called a pussy and a . Go figure.
I still can't believe that Rivers was playing on his knee after hearing how bad it actually was. This news seems to have shut up some of his critics and now have them talking about how tough he is.
