    The Orlando Magic’s Hedo Turkoglu and the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Al Jefferson today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, Jan 21 through Sunday, Jan. 27.

    Turkoglu guided Orlando to a 3-1 week, including wins over Eastern Conference leaders Detroit and Boston. Leading the Magic in scoring in all four games, Turkoglu averaged 25.5 points on .492 shooting from the field and .500 shooting from three-point range. Turkoglu tallied a game-high 27 points, including the game-winning three-pointer as time expired in Orlando’s 96-93 win over Boston on Jan. 27...

    Jan. 21 vs. Detroit: Recorded 26 points, five rebounds and eight assists in a 102-100 win against the Pistons.

    Jan. 23 @ Memphis: Connected on 6-of-8 three-pointers and scored 26 points as the Magic bested the Grizzlies 112-85.

    Jan. 25 @ Detroit: Tallied 23 points, four rebounds and three assists in a 101-93 loss at Detroit.

    Jan. 27 vs. Boston: Totaled 27 points, including the game-winning three-pointer as time expired as Orlando topped Boston 96-93.



    Other nominees for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Charlotte’s Emeka Okafor, Cleveland’s Zydrunas Ilgauskas and LeBron James, Detroit’s Richard Hamilton, Milwaukee’s Andrew Bogut, New Orleans’ Peja Stojakovic and David West, Phoenix’s Steve Nash and Amaré Stoudemire, Toronto’s Chris Bosh and Jose Calderon, and Utah’s Deron Williams.
