I'd rather be in the lottery than lose in the playoffs, especially the finals.

    True enough.

Although I'm not sure how much "better" I'd be to lose against the Mavs, Lakers or ..................... Suns.

    The Bad: That would suck.
The Good: That would still keep 4-0 intact.

I don't know ... Mike D'Antoni celebrating after finally beating the Spurs would be extremely hard to stomach.

" Let's go, c'mon, Let's go, Let's go, c'mon ... Yeah we win! I knew we could beat the Spurs! Let's go Stevie, on to the next round, c'mon."

Ehh, that be in the WCF or WCSF, not the NBA Finals. It's always worst I think to come out as the 2nd best team in the league...losing to the champ because a team comes so close and far and there can only be one winner. It sucked that the Spurs lost to the Mavs in 06...but I'd have been about 100X more pissed if the Spurs had gone to the Finals and gotten beat.

All I know is the Spurs aren't going to lose to the Heat in the Finals after having a 2-0 lead in the series.

Now the Pats will be compared to the Mavs instead of the Spurs.

I feel the same. Every year, I'd rather the Spurs not make the Finals than get there and lose. I couldn't handle that.

Not to mention a nice lead late in Game 3.

I think this thread is ridiculous. Lol @ spurs fans who are happy the pats lost so that the Spurs own the le as greatest sports dynasty of the 21st century. Don't get me wrong, I was going for the Giants for the very same reason, but it is still hilarious.

There are a lot of reasons to be happy the Patriots lost. Principal among them is the end of comparisons between them and the Spurs, at least for me. A classless organization led by a classless coach doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as far as I'm concerned. Glad to have any reason to tap dance in the shattered debris of their dreams.

I've got at least one recent report that the Spurs are a dynasty.
There are plenty more, the discussion was hot and heavy after they won their fourth.

    Success Stories? Not Yet
    By Tim Legler
    ESPN.com

The window of opportunity to achieve true greatness in the National Basketball Association closes quickly and, quite often, with very little notice. It is this compe ive cruelty that makes the NBA so compelling. A team can host a parade one June and be anxiously waiting to see the logo on the ping-pong ball in David Stern's hand the next.

There are teams scattered throughout the history of the league that can sleep well at night knowing that they seized the moment and left a mark of excellence that will last an eternity. The Celtics of the 1960s and '80s. The Showtime Lakers. Michael Jordan's Bulls. Shaq and Kobe's three-peat. And finally, the ongoing brilliance of Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs. They are considered dynasties, one and all.

This just means that whoever reads Simmons from now until June better have a big bottle of Pepto within reach.

Sounds like 0.4sec, or Manu-on-Dirk, for Patriots fans to me...

...oh, and as for it being a "lame thread", lame or not I think the people who RUN THE SITE are allowed as many threads as they like!

I'm just glad to never have to hear "Patriots of the NBA" again.
We started our run before them, why the are we compared to them. They should be called the Spurs of the NFL but not anymore. 3-1
