Mexican food is so regional you just get used to what you grew up with. I'm from west Texas and it's quite different from San Antone. Right now, I'm in Los Angeles and I'm getting the feeling it'll be the Salvadoran stuff.

LA has great Mexican, but you have to know where to go.

As a general rule, if the restaurant looks fancy: stay away. If it's a taco truck or a restaurant that looks as if it may be carried away on the backs of its roach population: odds are it tastes fantastic.

There was one that used to come to my school every day at lunch that was awesome. You'd hear that horn (it played La Cucaracha) and a sea of people would run for the parking lot.
