With more than two-thirds of the season complete, who's your pick for Coach of the Year?

    Strong candidates:

Byron Scott (Hornets): Last year's lottery team has turned its good health into a possible 50-55 win season, and may make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs

Nate McMillan (Blazers): Another recent West cellar-dweller, they have shown big improvements this season despite the loss of Oden. While they may not make it to the postseason, they are ahead of the maturity timetable

Rick Adelman (Rockets): 15 wins in a row. Has drastically improved the offense while not allowing the team to regress defensively. Developed newcomers like Landry, Head and Scola. If they can keep this pace up without Yao, that would represent quite an achievement

Doc Rivers (Celtics): Massive turnaround in team fortunes, but that's what 3 all-stars will do for you. What's been impressive is how fast the Celtics have picked up on team defense with all the new pieces. However, the playoffs will be the only measure for Doc this year

Stan Van Gundy (Orlando): Hedo Turkoglu is among the league leaders in 4th quarter PPG. Nuff said.

Jerry Sloan (Utah): Consistent as ever. CoY will be more like a lifetime achievement award for him.

Personally I think it's between Scott and Adelman. If Adelman makes the playoffs without Yao he really deserves it.

Byron deserves it. He has been underappreciated for years now. He has done an amazing job with NOH this season when no one expected it.

I pick Byron Scott, because nobody expected NOH to be this good this fast.

I think Scott for now. Although it's hard to knock a 15 game winning streak in Addelmans case.

I think it's no question that it's Byron Scott right now. But, I suppose 25 games or so left is still enough time for another coach to make a case.

But what if the Spurs win the Finals again. Why wouldn't it be Pop, who took a bunch of old and slow footed guys, and managed to get one more run out of them, without making one big trade?

Byron Scott. Doc Rivers has more to work with and KG is really the reason why the C's have come together so well defensively - Doc doesn't know much about coaching D.
But Scott has really pulled the Hornets together and given them some confidence and cohesion, and turned a lottery team into a contender.
