No arguement about quality.
But vinyl has a certain sound that CD's just don't. I'm having trouble finding exactly the right way to describe what I mean.
Richer??
There is something about vinyl but you can't beat the CD quality.
That being said- I love listening to my records but CD quality is better.

"Nazi Punks Off".
Nice little collector's piece, that.
Don't even open it.
Give it a few more years; it'll be worth a few bucks.
I still have that!
I have a handful of vinyls: full lengths, 7" singles, 12" singles, maybe a couple of 10" singles and picture discs. Don't have (and haven't had for a while) a turntable, but I still keep my records and even buy a few here and there if it's something rare that I really want.
Bought a few from eBay in past years that are hand numbered in quan es from anywhere from 300 to 1,500. It's all obscure metal stuff, but that's what I like.
Most recent item I've gottten was Cretin's "Cretanic Grind Ambush" that came out a few years ago and is already out of print. I believe 500 came out on regular black vinyl and 500 came out on purple marble swirl vinyl. I was pleased to find out that I got the swirl version with an extra song!
Generally, I prefer the convenience of cds, but nothing wrong with scoring an occasional vinyl treasure every once in a while!
Actually, one of my very favorites is an Yma Sumac 78. But that one's currently in my mother's possession since she's the only of the two of us with an old victorola to actually play it.
No...not wanting to sell it...sorry....maybe in the future.
I got a record player for Christmas ten years ago so I could listen to my dad's albums (and copy them to cassette tape :yuk)... I've always been on the precipice of going into full-on "collector" mode but fortunately for my and my wife's bank account, I've been able to resist... They're opening a Half Price Books nearby, though, so I'm excited/worried about that.
I took a bunch of my dad's albums with me to college, and my uncle gave me a bunch of his... I have about 40 total I think, most notably:
Metallica - Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning, and Kill 'em All (which includes "Am I Evil" and "Blitzkrieg"... I think it's a pretty rare version)
Aerosmith's first five albums
Iron Maiden - Somewhere in Time.... at some point I would love to get all of the Maiden albums on vinyl just for the cover art.
Ozzy - Bark at the Moon and The Ultimate Sin
Elton John - Tumbleweed Connection, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Honky Chateau
Stevie Wonder - Innervisions
Yes - Fragile
Rush - Power Windows
Beach Boys - Surfer Girl and Pet Sounds (really worn out copies I found in a thrift store)
Beatles - White Album, Abbey Rd, Sgt. Pepper, Magical Mystery Tour, Love Songs and Rock 'n' Roll Music
Crosby Stills Nash & Young - Deja Vu
I also had a copy of Dark Side of the Moon that I bought at a garage sale, but I stupidly left it too close to my space heater in college and it melted.
That's one of the best parts of vinyl.
The cover art is so much easier to appreciate.
Especially with older stuff where the artist designed it with the 12" format in mind.
Iron Maiden covers were always great.
So were the Grateful Dead's.
Didn't even matter if you liked the band, the art work was reason enough to pick up the album.
Add to that Molly Hatchet.Iron Maiden covers were always great.
So were the Grateful Dead's.
Today I got:
U2 18 Singles
The Beatles: The White album (yes!) for $20
Korn:Follow the Leader (for $6-why not?)

My dad has the biggest collection I have ever seen, prob over 10,000 right now. They are all over the house, drives my mom nuts. In there he has gotten me tons of Zepplin, Hendrix, Doors, Beatles, etc. I just need to go dig and take what I want. My own collection consists of 3 sealed. Pearl Jam - Yield, Radiohead - In Rainbows, Radiohead - OK Computer.
my roomate has one just like, well very similar.
Fun bump, ATRAIN.
10,000 is a lot. That's the most I had at once.
I need some Zepplin vinyls.
Yeah actually I just bought some vinyls at Waterloo yesterday and I saw this thread back when you started it and decided to bump it. Yeah its a lot it is over 10 it could be more than that because he has tons in storage. If you guys are looking for something imparticular he has lots of duplicates and I can go dig through them when I go visit them.
My dad already completed the set for me, and there are duplicates, there might even be close to 3 complete sets in his collection.
I inherited some wonderful Dean Martin and Little Richard from my dad recently. Don't have anything to play it on though.
Oh and I found this one in my closet a few weeks ago:

Yes, but it's called "I Just Want to be Your Everything"
Keep telling yourself that.
