    D-League Playoffs 101

March 23, 2008: The 2007-08 D-League Playoffs will begin shortly after the regular season concludes on Saturday, April 12. Here is all the information that you need to know about the playoff format, potential matchups, and which six teams are currently in position to qualify for the postseason. Refer back to this page daily to see the current playoff seedings and where your favorite team stands.

    The Opening Rounds

This year's D-League playoffs will consist of three rounds, with the first two rounds both consisting of two single-elimination games.

    - The three division winners and three wild-card teams with the best remaining records (a total of six teams) will qualify for the playoffs.

    - Tie breakers are in order, head-to-head record, winning percentage against teams over .500, and point differential.

    - The two division winners with the best records will receive a bye from the first round

    - The remaining four teams will play in the first round, with the winners advancing to meet the two teams that received byes. The division-winning team that did not get a bye will be the top seed, and face the team with the lowest winning-percentage that qualified for the playoffs.

    - The winners of the second round games will meet in the D-League Finals.

    D-League Finals

This year's D-League finals will consist of a best-of-three series. The team with the lower seed will host the first game before the series moves on to the site of the team with home-court advantage. This differs from the past three seasons, where the Championship Game was single-elimination. Last season the Dakota Wizards defeated the Colorado 14ers, 129-121 in overtime to win the 2006-07 D-League le.

As It Stands Today (March 23, 2008)

First Round Seeding: 1. Dakota Wizards (Central Division Leaders), 2. Los Angeles D-Fenders, 3. Tulsa 66ers, 4. Colorado 14ers

Last team left out: Sioux Falls Skyforce

Nobody will know the matchups until April 12 and the exact schedule slightly later since the schedules will have to be worked out with the hosting venues.

Miami keeps calling up the best players from our rivals, so the Toros are looking pretty good to win their division and possibly get a 1st round bye. Hopefully the Spurs have scared anyone away from calling up Marcus Williams.
