They had no timeouts left. That's why Pop didn't call one either at the end and let Ginobili go in for the game winning shot. If he had called a TO, Suns could have put in Shaq and set up their defensive play.
I can't wait for Game 2. We'll know right away after that game is done if the Suns are going to take this series the distance.

Thanks. I just saw that on azcentral. At least I can let that go now.
Oh and the reason they didn't have any TO's left to advance the ball and set up their defense and put Shaq in is because the Spurs forced them to use their last TO on the inbounds play before where Finley angled himself just right and Bowen denied the pass to Nash forcing the Suns to call a TO.
Little smart details like that is why I love watching the Spurs and Pop is a genius.
Congratulations for the victory!
Oh yeah and Shaq can check Timmy one on one, yeah bull just like i thought. He had a couple of moments on Tim but other than that he was in foul trouble being too agressive and got owned whenever Tim took it right at him. That will happen over and over again as long as Tim plays aggressive. If D'antoni wants to play Tim one on one Shaq will be if foul trouble. Shaq can't be aggressive trying to block shots in the paint and check Tim for large stretches of the game and not be in foul trouble.
I just got home- met with some friends after the game.
That game was stupendous! I can't believe I got to be at the game and earned a salary doing so. Too awesome.
I knew the game was ours when Timmy hit that three.

It must be hard for Suns fans to see what an incredible player Amare is and yet watch him make some really dumb decisions. Those last 2 fouls - the charge and then to foul out - in OT no less! - by grabing Manu after the deflection - were absolutely huge agianst the Suns. At least Shaq was smart enough to understand that. He may have not liked it but he understood that he needed to stay in the game. If Amare dosen't foul out in the 1st OT the Suns might have won. His fouling out helped tip the balance and make it easier for the Spurs to win, though it was a very tough one to win.
I'd just like to give you the opportunity to get the off the board now.
Totally ridiculous. I bet you think that an elbow by Shaq to Manu's face is just part of the game too? As in any such game there are questionalbe calls but all in all the fouls seemed to even out. DSuns - 30 Spurs - 27. Frankly the Suns blew this game and I think they know it. That 8 pt halftime lead should have been at least 15+ with the way the Spurs turned the ball over and shot so poorly in the 1st half. Having said that the 16 pt lead in the 2nd half should have been even more. And Amare once again showed just how low of a BB IQ he has. If he plays inder control I think the Suns pull it out.
He's right Spurs fans. We won this game but it was more about the Suns not executing properly rather than our marvelous play. But I'll take it though. If any of you think we can consistently pull out shots like that to win are crazy.Don't get me wrong - I'm real happy now but we need to do a lot better if we're going to advance deep into these playoffs. We need to see the type of game we played against Utah recently. We need to put together two good halves. I believe we will but we stole one today. Even coach Brown said so in the post game interview. Now comes the adjustments for Tuesday's game.
Game 2 is going to be really fun. Time to play a solid 48 minutes of Spurs playoff BB and put the hurt on them.

Yea that was the point I was trying to get across, but you say anything negative about the Spurs on here and you're a troll. I'd say it was a combination of the Suns not executing and closing out properly and the Spurs playing brilliantly and capitalizing on all of their chances. When you think about how many times the Suns could have won this game you have to wonder if PHX will ever get their act together mentally to beat the Spurs in a 7-gamer.
It was a nice little game.
Aside of the craziness of this game, it's only game 1 of the first round.
The only thing that count tonight is Spurs 1 - Suns 0.
Game 2 will be damn important. The team that win it will put a lot of pressure on the other one.
Laker fan and Mav fan can say all they want that this game was more about the Suns letting it go than the Spurs winning. But since it's been a while since either of your teams have won a Championship, it's a little something called "execution" that allows teams like the Spurs to continuously win in the playoffs. There's a reason the Suns continue to make so many mistakes in crunch time and "let the Spurs win."
No arguments here. There is no excuse for a veteran team like PHX to make that many mistakes in the clutch. Coaching has a lot to do with that as well.
Exactly. Coaching has a lot to do with it. This game was as much about Duncan showing why he's the greatest PF ever and why Pop is one of the greatest coaches in the game. He outcoached D'Antoni and made so many subtle in game adjustments that won the game.
This game seriously had a WCF feel to it.....
insane...
If i had nails they'd all be gone now....
I'm already tensed about Tue's game. Just gotta deny the split and preserve today's effort.
Yes but you're always tense, Boutons

Edit : scratch that
Cuz i feel like sharing
(Lord knows i save all the gifs u guys post)
I love Duncan's reaction after he hit that shot.
Why would anybody listen to you after claiming Duncan turns into a big vagina and Shaq mentally owns him? Really, wether we won or lost is irrelevant. Before you keep spewing bull , you should go back and read some of the crap you write. Maybe then you'll understand why its difficult to take you seriously...
still.focused,
An animated .jpg?
The Spurs were just shooting some shots...
