I like Mahinmi a lot and have great hopes -- but how is he 'coming in'? Isn't he 'already here'?

Was he a Spur last season? Did the Spurs pay him? Was he part of the organization?

    Sheesh.

He really doesnt, actually. Unless you mention the "terrible" FO decisions the Spurs have made in the past decade(despite the 4 les and best winning % of all major sports) he doesn't "know what you mean."

ROFL. He wasn't a part of rotation. He wasn't a part of the active roster. He spent just about all of the regular season in Austin and then he had a second row seat for the playoffs. He's a new addition to the Spurs however you want to look at it.

    Sheesh, indeed.

I guess. He's a new addition to the team next season regardless. And he'd go rather high in this year's draft, which fortunately he is not in since the Spurs' GM had the foresight to draft him back in '05.

Sorry - I can't put much stock into that EC GM report of Ian possibly being an AS. Thats Danny Ferry and I'd just about bet my life on it. He was in love with Ian when they picked him up and while Ian hasn't looked bad, he's given no indication of AS potential either.

Could be Ferry but doubtful since Ferry was already the GM of the Cavs when the Spurs drafted Mahinmi.

I think it's just someone in the East who doesn't realize the lack of talent in the D-League. I like Mahinmi but to call him a future all-star at this point is a big stretch. But hey, if there are teams out there that think that, I wouldn't mind trading Mahinmi if it means the Spurs can get multiple studs in return. Mahinmi for a solid player and a top 15 pick? I'd think about it.

I see Mahinmi at about seven points, five boards and a block this year if given time. His ceiling in his career is probably something around 13 points, nine boards and two blocks ..... good but not all-star.

Yeah, the Spurs have been known to parlay decent players that others thought were all stars into decent players.

I'd be thrilled if thats what he provides. The Spurs could really use someone to just clean up trash and pick up garbage points without having plays run from them. Those are usually guys with a lot of athletecism and they really really help out teams with stagnant offenses.

I've got my fingers crossed and I hope, but I'm not expecting great things. I think he's got good potential and really for a late first round pick I think thats about as much as you can ask on a regular basis.

I'm hopeful. The French have a healthy recent history of helping the Spurs. See: Parker, Tony & Diaw, Shrunken testicles of Boris.
