To me, it is not really important to pull for one team. I don't like either. I think the Lakers will be a contender for years to come with a healthy Bynum and the MLE to improve some needs.
Boston on the other hand has 2 years the MOST to be in contention (with the big 3).
My thoughts on Boston winning it: I don't see how 1 ring would help people argue that KG is better than Timmy. The ones who argue that KG is better right now will keep to do so regardless of what happens this year. Everybody who followed the NBA over the years and has some basketball knowledge will agree that Tim is better. It is not even close. That said the ONLY reasonable way to compare players is their success (as franchise players). The consistency of success since TD joined the league is remarkable. When Tim played they got out of the first round EVERY YEAR and won 4 championships with the team that drafted him. He won championships with 11 different players (1999/2005) on his team. He has 3 Finals MVPs (along with MJ, Shaq and Magic the only players who won 3 or more). Who knows if KG will win one finals MVP at all.
I don't really root for one team. But with the Lakers being strong for years to come it might be easier to accept if Boston wins.
That said, I really hope the Spurs will retool and win another...
