The Lakers have finally met a team that is capable of slowing down their offense and taking advantage of their defensive weaknesses. They've managed to get this far by playing teams that have one or the other, but not both.
Seeing Ray Allen waltz into the lane for that layup at the end of the game encapsulated the Laker's main problem perfectly. Their defense just can't get stops when they need to. I never considered the 3-peat Lakers to be an elite defensive team, but they could ALWAYS get timely stops on defense and step it up when needed.
With the additions of Bynum and hopefully some defensive minded vets in the off-season, plus another training camp and season to train together I think we will see the Lakers make the push for a le next season. Pretty much everyone here thinks Bynum is a scrub and that's fine, I know exactly what he is going to bring to this team and it's exactly what LA needs the most. They need an enforcer in the paint, someone who is going to protect the rim and Bynum is very capable of being that man.
