I'd love for him to return home, make amends with Cuban, and retire a Maverick (as he should), and then for his number to be retired.......but we need to spend money on players who are going to help us next year.
I mean I know he doesn't have a ton left in his tank, but at least he is able to get hot and hit some threes, and is a nice leadership kind of guy. If Mavs do pursue, the bigger question is... will he be willing to come back?

I am with Mono here, given our cap situation we really can't afford any sentimental signings in a critical offseason for the team. We don't have many assets and the team needs some critical changes therefore I am not sure if it's wise to spend on Fin right now.
Having said that he deserves to retires as a Mav for all he has done in the past.
For sentimental reasons, of course, but to be depended on to play and score like he used to is a stretch. The last couple of seasons he hasn't been doing good with us, and those "hot" games only come like once every 10 games.
He'd be fine as a non-rotation player to round out the bench.
He could still have value as a 10-12 minute player coming off the bench, but I would say no they shouldn't since they need to maximize their resources for improving the roster.
He's proven to be more healthy than Jones, George, and Stackhouse the last couple years. I can see him returning to Dallas (assuming SA doesn't want him back) as a 7th or 8th man off the bench with around 15-20 minutes a game.
I also see him signing with the vet minimum so he wouldn't hurt the Mavs chances to go after other fa's.
