help to start a small business

I am 34 years old woman with two kids. My husband was passed away by an accident three years ago. My financial status is very low and I need some financial help to start a small business. I have heard that there are business grants available to help women and minorities with a small business. Finding the actual grants is a little difficult any information the actual name of the specific grants or something to send me in the right direction would help. Thank you very much.

Good luck with this. I have my own business too, but it takes awhile to really have it go well for you. There are grants from the government you can get although I personally never used them. Why don't you ask someone at a university close to you that offers non-credit classes in starting a business to see if there is someone there who can help you out(without taking a class). They do have classes on this stuff, although the idea is not to take one with your limited resources. Tell them your situation, they may be more ready to help. In the meantime keep your day job until you can switch over to your business as support. Take a non-credit class (if you can afford it. Maybe borrow money for it.) on how to market your product too. There are still no direct small business grants available from the federal government, many state development agencies offer direct small business grants and other types of financial assistance designed to encourage and assist entrepreneurs in starting or expand a small business.
