Does anyone have a customer service # for them?
so do you get a phone # so ppl can call u? can u use it for your utilities, credit cards, etc?
in other words, can you not have a home phone and have this joint?

When I use Magic Jack, I get continual dialtone while the caller is talking to me. Do you have any ideas.
I have Magic Jack but using an older ATT analog portable phone. Anyone know which phones work the best with Magic Jack?
Yeah .. well I am that other guy.... who is a Magic Fan ..and a MagicJack fan and user .. and At this point Will do all I can to piss of the " Cabanmustgo" jerk ... so what if people want advice on magic jack ...I hope he doesnt get too worked up to have heart failure... try getting out on the basketball court and work off some steamfor those who wnat to know where to buy it so you dont have to wait 3 weeks to get it ..

Just got magic jack. It IS GREAT (soon to be ex-wife ran my phone bill up to $1,000 + but thanks to magic jack...) Now I have a question and an idea. Question, how does the voice box work. No luck making it work yet, supposedly I can leave my own "Hi, you have reached (xxx) xxx-xxxx I am not able to speak with you just now but if..." just by typing my phone number and pressing * Problem is when I do it asks for my password. I DO enter it correctly but it says otherwise. What the...??? and also...idea. If you have a wireless internet connection via a laptop (as opposed to my only PC, a desktop) you have a phone that goes anyplace and makes calls for SUPER CHEAP, so maybe someone can figure out how to condense all that needed tech into JUST a cell phone. A cell phone so designed would allow you to make these nice free (or nearly so) calls without hauling around the laptop. Honestly I have never owned a cell phone but unless cell phone regular rates are ALREADY free, or nearly so, it seems that would be a vast improvement over all of the above.
could it have anything to do with the fact that I am using a cordless phone with magic jack? (hope not)

I hope this thing works, I just ordered one, I will report back with my findings. I know this is my first post here,but I am no spammer, I will give an objective opinion of the magic jack. I found this thread on google, even though it is a sports forum I thought I would post in this particular thread. Wish me luck, I hope I don't have to test out their warranty.

They could be a victim of aggressive sales targets and overly optimistic projections, something that happens a lot with business start ups.
It would suck to buy into this system, that seems to work OK, then have the company fold because the owners were bad business people.
It takes two things to have a successful business: Knowledge of the product/service, and the business a en to be able to make money selling that product/service.
Most small businesses fold because the owner has the first skillset down pat, but has no clue about the business side of the house.

Hmmm. Sounds like a solid investment to me. Hard to say for 100% certain without looking at the books directly, but they are saying the right things that indicate they have the business/moneymaking side covered, and really know their product.
Too bad it is private. Good note to make for keeping track of the company though.

Good luck getting a refund, but its only 49.99 at first! thats where they make the money and run. see if it last a year? I wouldn't buy more years until I find out if it will last. Better see if they have your Area Code before you buy!
Whatever you do in lfe.... make the purchase of the Magic Jack the last thing that you do.
I tried to cancel before it ever reachd me and was told that I could not cancel because it was in transit; but I should open it because there was a return label for returns. I had a total of three charges held on my card for one magic jack. I received it one day took it to the post office for return the next morning. I received a RMA number after much stress and strain. You can not get this on the web site...it had to be started by the only half effecient representative there (Jesse). I had to return to the post office to retrieve the tracking number so that I could get the holds released from my account. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT!!!!! After giving them the informtion that they requested, I was told that it would take 5-10 days. They want the money even though I don't have the product any longer. Any time you can not speak with a human- BE AFRAID/BE VERY AFRAID. This is a very dishonest company and I hope and pray I can get my money back. I do not know if it works or not; but the customer service is AWFUL!!!

I have NEVER laughed so much reading an internet forum thread as this one. Yes, I too did that old "google search" as I will be traveling extensively back and forth from Dallas to Guadalajara for a start up import business venture.
So I wanted to get some feedback on the little bugger for intl rates. God that was funny watching the "real" forum members versus the "traveling by" posters. What really amazed me is most of them didn't even seem to read the members postings and ongoing side of the mouth postings about the "spammers", oh my god I'm still laughing.
I really am not going to join and tie up your forum boards cause I'm not really that much of an active basketball fan, (doesn't all that sqeeking of rubber bug anyone else?-. But I just had to thank you for one of the most fun hour on the internet lately.

I got my jack about 5 months ago, It is the worst, you cannot even send a fax on this thing.
The connection is horrible you have to wait 35 seconds to get a connection, in Toronto.
And mind you, the reception everywhere is horrible, people keep asking me to call back from a better line.
It sounds likes chipmunks some days, other days it sounds like you calling from mars, with all the breaking up of the words. yesterday I set up my voice mail phone line which I am using for buisness, and when I recorded the voice mail and listened to it, it played back in slow motion, tripping out every second syllable, and for the first time, I realise what other people hear when I talk.
Thats ridiculous, I have downloaded their Magic Fix so many times, and the reception is still horrible.
I have spoken to tec support.............steupssssssssss, it sounds like they are reading a verbatim script.
So what am I paying for?. If I cannot even complete a call, sometimes, I have to call someone back 10 times for me to relate 1 sentence.
Magicjack needs to get their act together, great innovation, great product, but very poor reception, so it makes it usless!!!
When I order the item I purchased 1, they sent two and billed my credit card 15 days later.
I do not like this product, last night I called my cellphone, over and over and it never rang.
Ths phone is wacked.
And I have a different problem with each jack that is no coincidence.
The thing was not properly researched, they just dropped it on the market.

I read something last night about the GOVT of US taking them to court.
Received the magic jack today. Read everything and set it up as the information stated. I was very sad to find out this unit still needs some work. Tried with three different phones, two different computers and still very poor operation. Powered USB did not help. 5 meg cable internet. Add upgrades from their site to no help. Bad sound, break up, bad connection, miss dialed, just does not work. To all those that got it to work, consider yourself lucky. Received my return RMA. To me, just junk!

Got it and within 30 minutes it failed to make phone calls to dormant phones that had been silent for over 5 minutes. It registered those phones as busy...

Why, why, why do people trust a company that's selling products which make it cheaper for you to talk on the phone yet they only have customer service online? Doesn't that tip people off that something *might* be wrong? Hey, at least it's not Billy Mays hocking these things or that Sham-wow guy. They make me feel stabby.
