JR Smith and Azubuike look like the best two options left. Hopefully not Delfino. I'm kinda glad Pietrus isn't an option because that had disaster written all over it.

Since the Spurs have to get their best players to take pay cuts in order to field a team, they're going to draw only a certain type of player (and Michael Finley). Be glad those players exist at all.

Maggette signing the same day as Pietrus makes me suspect that the Spurs never wanted Pietrus, anyway. (In other words, the Spurs must have suspected at least by yesterday that something was up with Maggette and they clearly did nothing to interfere with the Pietrus signing).
I think that may have been a mistake but it's at least some consolation that Maggette apparently did not cost the Spurs Pietrus.

Specifically about JR Smith, doesn't this kinda screw him? I mean, he can't get a deal higher than the MLE now, right? So, whatever deal we were going to offer MAggette we can offer to JR and the Nuggets would be forced to decide if they should pay twice that with the luxary tax. Yeah, everyone out there with the MLE could do the same, but how many teams out there need him bad enough to use their MLE on him? And among those teams, how many would be more attractive than SA?
Hey, if Pietrus is getting the MLE, Beno and Diop too... that might not be a bad deal for JR?
