Of course it's ing reasonable and i think it's worth every penny of the cost. our organization ain't stupid like the warriors and some other ball clubs overpay players like ronny, posey,

Ronny and Posey are better basketball player than Luke and Vlad. Guess who makes more money.

Sasha is now officially overpaid, but 3 years is better than the 6 he was looking for.

    Lakers overpaid Sasha, period.

Turiaf should have been matched--he fills a much bigger need.

The Lakers financial situation looks BLEAK. They overpaid for Walton and Radman and now they've done the same for Sasha.

Take this into account; If Andrew Bynum only makes 10 million a year in his new deal (which is being VERY, VERY generous to the Lakers) and the Lakers let Lamar Odom walk and sign with another team, they will still have a guaranteed payroll of 70 million dollars (around the luxury tax) with only 8 guys under contract.

If they DO re-sign Odom or trade for a player that makes a similar salary, they're looking at an 80-85 million dollar payroll with nine guys on the roster.

If Bynum's agent is as cutthroat as he appears to be, that number could be closer to 90 million and they would still have to sign at least four more players under the CBA.

Theyve made some bad decisions that they're gonna have to pay for.

They had no capspace to begin with you rube.

Oh no, Buss has to pay a load of luxury tax for an entire season before the CBA expires and Stern does away with it altogether unless he wants Europe to continue leeching NBA talent due to an inefficient and flawed system.

Considering the Lakers will have at least 3 draft picks by then and Sun Yue stashed away in China still who cares that they only pontentially have 9 players on contract.

But hey, the Lakers are adding a healthy ANDREW BYNUM and Ariza to the team while Boston loses their toughest perimeter defender while thinking about replacing him with Devean George. Save your worries for your rapidly aging team and another 20 years of irrevelance. The Lakers have a 5+ year window at least.

Once again, Lakers cave in and grossly overpay a very marginal player.

Bad deal, way too much money.

Should have called his bluff or let him go to Europe and just signed Michael 0Finley, Doug Christie or Sam Cassell for the minimum instead.

No salary cap. How gay would that be.

Lakers and Celtics fans really do have no problem being the only two teams in the NBA do they?

    Yes the Knicks blahblahblah

I agree; they should have kept Ronny instead of Vuja .

Man, I would love to get paid 5 millions/year to drain open 3's, play ty D, and cry because of ty D

as far as the sasha signing. i think this means the laker are going to move walton or vlad along with odom. if not they are in the lux tax and this contract will basically cost the lakers 3 years 30 mil.

odom for artest marion and wallace rumors are everywhere and i think the lakers would insist that those teams take luke and vlad's contract if a deal is to be done.
Uh, if you get Artest, you're going to have to eat another contract to make it work under the CBA, not pawn one off. Also, count on Artest being a major pain in the ass if the trade doesn't come with an extension of 4-5 years.

Good signing for LAL. It's the length of the contract that I like the best, 3 years. He's a very movable contract should we need to in the future. I still think Sasha will improve as a player, he's only 23 and a noted gym rat.

Ronny Turiaf, OTOH, has maxed out. He has no real desire to become a great basketball player or improve his game significantly from what it is right now. The Lakers made the right decision in letting him go.

Another thing. Luxury tax isn't as meaningful for a team like the Lakers who are perhaps the most profitable team in the entire NBA. Buss will pay the tax if he has a contender.

Buss is cheap. Didn't the Lakers turn down Baron Davis for nothing back around 02 or 03 because Buss wouldn't pay him?

Buss is cheap? Look at the Laker's payroll again before you make such stupid comments. He is shrewd with his money, but if he has a contender he will spend the money.

We turned down Baron because he was incredibly injury prone at the time and a huge risk to take on. Plus, the triangle offense has never needed a superstar PG to be effective.

So basically youre hanging your hopes that the next CBA will have no luxury tax even though Stern has to answer to the owners, the majority of which don't play in a super-sized market. Thats an awfully huge assumption.

We know that Buss is "shrewed". We know the Lakers payroll is going to skyrocket after next year if they want to keep both Bynum and Odom (or a traded player who makes the same amount of money).

Occam's razor says somethings gonna give and it will probably be Odom.

Also, where are these three first round draft picks coming from? The Lakers have three first round picks next year?

You make the wrong assumption in thinking the people who own the Lakers (note it's not just the Buss family) can't afford to pay the luxury tax on a contending team. The Lakers are the most profitable team in the NBA with the highest ticket prices, the money is there.

And yes Odom will be long gone after his contract expires unless he is willing to resign for $8-10 million, but even then it all depends on if LAL still wants him. He'll probably go back to Miami with Wade and Riley.
