Lawler needs to never dance again.
I have seen pictures of both where they don't look so bad.
Lawler needs to never dance again.
I didnt know what it was at first. It looked goofy. That other announcer...Mauro or something. I hated him. He always came up with something dumb to say, like that fight lasted longer then Brett Favre's retirement. Anyone would know he was retired for like a month and a half. That fight did not last a month and a half.
His name is Mauro Ranallo and he is awful to listen to. Just horrible. Its just a constant stream of boring generic hyperbole's in that fake radio announcer voice.
But Frank gets better every fight.
about as bad as it gets
That airing back on May 31, 2008 scored 4.3 million viewers and a 1.9/6 among 18-49 year olds and since the Kimbo Slice bout for that airing aired past primetime (11p) the most viewed portion wasn’t included. But lacking any Kimbo anticipation, last night’s fights pulled a mere 2.62 million and a 1.0/3 from 9pm-11pm.
In all fairness, it wasnt advertised nearly as much.
well yeah of course. They hurt themselves a bit here.
Still though, pretty sad. And too me, it was a really nice night of fights, would you agree Evan?
Oh absolutely.
Wish this had been the first on CBS.
I do too. If this had been the first, then the second would have more viewers and this promotion would be better. This was a lousy show ratings wise, and really screwed up with that first show. It almost seamed like a joke with the dancing girls and music....they tried to go over the top, and blew so bad.
updated...1.9 not 1.0...still pretty low
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting the show got a 1.9 rating on the overnight. When all markets finish reporting in the numbers should bump up a tenth or two for either a 2.0 or a 2.1. This would fall into the low 2 range that MMAPayout.com felt would be a decent number for the show, per our show preview.
I found the undercard fight that got the mat bloody...

haha that kinda looks like Stevenson when he he was spraying during the Penn rear naked choke.
And CBS now s a brick and regrets not caving into the UFC's demands...
E TV’S RE-BROADCAST OF UFC 84 DRAWS MORE YOUNG MEN THAN A LIVE PRO ELITEXC CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT ON CBS
Need proof the UFC is the preeminent mixed martial arts brand in the world? On Saturday, July 26, more men 18-34 watched a repeat…a repeat…of a UFC event on e TV than a LIVE telecast of a Pro EliteXC championship card on CBS. Despite being available in over 17 million more homes, e TV drew 27% more Men 18-34 for a re-broadcast of “UFC 84: Penn vs. Sherk” from (9:00-12:00am ET/PT) than CBS’s live show (9:00-11:00pm). e TV’s telecast tallied 433,000 Men 18-34 to CBS’s 341,000.
Overall, “UFC 84: Penn vs. Sherk” drew higher ratings than Pro EliteXC in Men 18-49 (1.5 to 1.3) and Men 18-34 (1.5 and 1.0).
Reminiscent of the XFL’s rating collapse years ago, the CBS telecast was 69% lower in Men 18-34 and 57% lower with Men 18-49 than its initial broadcast on CBS in May featuring the “He Hate Me” of MMA, Kimbo Slice.
Compared to last week’s live e TV UFC telecast featuring arguably the best pound for pound fighter in the world, Anderson Silva, the UFC outdrew CBS by 165% with Men 18-34, 82% with Men 18-49, and 21% with total viewers.
and now..........
ProElite, Inc., the parent company of Elite Xtreme Combat, declared via a filing with the Securities Exchange Committee that both Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer Doug DeLuca and EliteXC Live Events President Gary Shaw have resigned from the company.
Ha Evan...I beat you in that post...I posted it in the Quick hits though....dang!
The UFC needs to work out a deal with FOX to make CBS feel even more like .![]()
"Two of the fighters that Shields mentioned in his post fight interview are going to battle in the UFC on Aug 9 as champion Georges St. Pierre and top contender, Jon Fitch, face off in a championship bout. The California native would love to face the winner, but he understands that fight will not happen. . .at least for now."
yeah when I heard that and when he said lets unify the les I was like wtf, he just won the belt and is already calling these guys outs. GSP would destroy him in 1 round.
IMO I think Fitch could possibly beat him. Some people dont give fitch enough credit.
Sounds more like a contract ploy than anything. No way did EXC want him to mention them.
Beat who GSP?? It might be a good 2nd rounder but I dont think anyone in the WW class can beat GSP right now. He is riding high and is training harder than ever. He doesnt want another le defense repeat like he did with Sera.
Yeah I was thinking, man the company might be really pissed at him for that. They do throw out the UFC name a lot though (like on ring intros), I wonder if its just to show the fans and new fans that they have a lot of former UFC fighters?
