Its a vacation/wedding
I don't get any vacations and this is a rare one, so I repeat what I said earlier![]()
Coast Guard reports a total of eight boats loose in the Mississippi, all tugboats, fwiw.
Those photos were as of about 12 today though. More recent news:
In a sign of a subsiding surge and easing winds, waves are no longer sloshing over the western side of the Industrial Canal floodwall at the Claiborne Avenue bridge in New Orleans, according to multiple witnesses.
Still, water continues to slosh over the top of the wall closer to the lake, near Florida Avenue.
The subsiding water closer to the river is leaving a field of debris along the sides of the canal.
The question of whether storm waters would become a torrent over the west wall has posed a day-long emergency analysis situation for Army Corps of Engineers officials.
More forecasts for what will be 'Ike' to come into the Gulf...
This is the Euro long range model... yes they have this going to New Orleans, basically an identical track to Katrina - over the Keys and then into the Gulf before hooking into La/Mississippi.

Maybe Gustav is just the appe izer.....Hanna is an amuse buoche...Ike maybe a main course.....and at this point I would like to decline DESSERT!!!
are these just doomsday projections, or are they actual scientific models?
Remember that several days ago, models had Hanna coming into NO. Ike's a long way from posing a threat.
What if it's hurricane Pizookie?

Damn, I love me some Pizookie...![]()
And the other 2 hurricanes are suppose to hit the Gulf again? Geesh. I feel sorry for the people who might have to evacuate more than once this season.
Only two models did on wunderground. They all have changed now. The NHC has been super accurate with Gustav, so I'm sure they will be with Hanna and Ike.
Me too!! He waved to my aunt (she was waving) as the Motorcade passed. I didn't get a picture of him, just of one of the SUV's. I was too busy trying to find out where he was. lol This is one of my pics of AF1 landing.

That's awesome.
I only saw it on the news.
A little closer to home, a big-ass fire is happening at an industrial park south of the Dome.
Que the california earthquake.....sorry the all the Cali posters...not wishing one on y'all at all.
Let one happen to Northern California on Wednesday.
I'm never coming up here again.
Bummer.
Being reported on New Orleans TV that an imminent breaking of the Plaquemines levee is set to occur.
Estimated to flood 200 homes, not go into the city, but no guarantees.
Braithewaite, too, as per WGNO.![]()
Yeah they are going to the area with sandbags hoping to slow it all down or stop it
Though I risk the wrath of our resident life coach for going off topic, just thought I'd take this moment to remind T Park to keep these two posts in mind the next time he can't figure out why people think he's a selfish ass.
Wow, from the video they look hosed on that levee, it's pouring through.
so where is Hanna supposed to make landfall now?
It looks like they are plugging up the Braithewaite levee up pretty good...they have more rains coming so hopefully all their efforts aren't for nothing.
