The Sushi GTG For Wednesday Sept 3,2008

I normally wouldn't brag about stuff like this, but since you bas s are partying without me I don't care that much. In exactly 10 days I'm checking in at the Okura Hotel in Amsterdam, that comprises:
A 2 Michelin stars French restaurant,
a 1 Michelin star Traditional Japanese restaurant
and what is probably the best Japanese grill in Europe.
I'll be sure to think of you guys during dinner(s), just as I'm sure you will be thinking of me while partying at the GTG

Sushi = best food of all time.

Sushi = second best food of all time

live Dungeness Crab = greatest food of all time

It is shown over here on Discovery, but I guess it could be on the food channel or even TLC in the states.

Goro's sushi is the . It is really fresh and the owner is really cool. I have not been to the happy hour, but I heard that it is pretty cheap.

Slomo- I am enjoying a greasy bacon, egg, cheese & jalapeño burrito…(served by one of LA's premier coffee trucks)...I really doubt that you can get a breakfast like that in Europe’s finest hotels….

I will eat some sushi in your honor Slomo. Are you going to GTG with Alamo50 while you are there? NOW that is a GTG I would like to go too...


Next time I have surgery on an extremity, I'll wait until you are in town..

I've said it before and I'll repeat it gladly. The worst mexican food joint in the US is waaaayyyyy better than the best mexican restaurants in Europe. I've been to many such places in many cities and have yet to find one that isn't a total dissapointment. There's even one in London called "The Texas Embassy" (apparently the Texas embassy was shortly located in the same building) that showed some promises, but unfortunately it just looked nicer, but tasted horrible.

I admit that I have been spoiled by my visits to SA.

Chacho's is gourmet mexican food compared to what they serve over here.

Of course if you're looking for some cuisine other than Mexican, then Europe is a pretty cool place. It's going to be my first stay at the Okura, and I'm really looking forward to it.

Can you tell I like good food?

I've tried to meet up with Alamo in the past, since this is a regular trip for me - Vegas in Spring, Amsterdam in Autumn - funny how our most important exhibitions are in cities of doubtful moral values

But to get back to Alamo, he lives in a different city and I don't stay there long enough so that we could meet.

And it's the off season

As for the GTG enjoy it, I'll be sure to go out with you guys next time I'm in SA.

If you like big greasy burritos in LA, go check El Tepeyac Cafe on Evergreen just north of Cesar Chavez and get a Hollenbeck or Hollenbeck Machaca. Those two are the baddest burritos in the world.
