I thought Rashad could beat Chuck. Rashad is a bad mofo. I'd like to see him fight Anderson Silva actually.

Okay can someone please explain to me how in the does Rashad look like total against o and Bisping (Who's now fighting at 185 and o may never fight in the UFC again), but he KO's Chuck friggin Liddell?? I can't believe Chuck lost that fight. He may be done. Great career but no way in a prime Chuck loses that fight. 2 years ago, he would have got Evans out of there in the first round.

What did Don King do for boxing? How did it grow? He has been involved with it for several decades so surely there must be many great things right?

Dana has done more for MMA in under a decade than King ever thought about while taking a .

Boxing was the first sport I ever loved and I am still a fan but to say Don King ever did anything positive to the sport is appalling.

The last image I have of Don King is screaming at Nikolai Valuev to pick up a card board cut out of a sky scraper and toss it around. Yeah...thats awesome.
I'm not much into a promotion bull .
But you are right about that Dana did more for the MMA then Don for boxing although Don is first face when you are talking about promotions.
He is madeing illogical decisions - that's a fact - for example pumping up fake hype where there is no value in the fight or there is absolutely no reason for it. He is also the first guy when you talking about Tyson folding.

Dana may talk but he has a fresh view going forward. He wants go global with the UFC - I do not know if it's good, but as long as UFC stays in america "giving" sometimes their shows in Europe it could be benificial as .

I see the MMA growing real fast - in Poland we've got many fans of that sport - I could not even imagine how much. I would love to train MMA - I love training and practice. This indyvidual sport making you work hard IMO one of the hardest trainings in sports.

    Maybe he improved?

Maybe he was well prepared with the plan?

    Maybe he was faster?

Maybe Chuck did not took him serious?

Maybe Chuck was out of fighting rythym?

    Maybe Rashard was lucky?

That's MMA - there is not much sure things when you fighting.

He didn't really improve much. It was basically a one punch KO set up by nothing special. Chuck won a very un-eventful RD 1. Rashad ran most of the RD and did not committ to any heavy shots. Chuck was trying to put on a show and he got way too over-aggressive in the 2nd Rd. Getting way too close to a man he has reach and height on. He threw a big shot, missed and got countered with a huge punch. Evans could not take Chuck down and he knew it. His only shot was to land a big shot and KO Chuck. Chuck is not what he was a few years ago but do i think Evans is going to be Champ someday?? NO!!! I say have him fight Wandy next, and i got Wandy by KO inside of 2 rds.

PS. Making a Chuck vs Forest fight would still bring big amount of money.

Just for the record...when I said "idiocy" in my post I was speaking in generalities and not directly calling you personally an idiot. I worded that poorly...sorry about that.

If Dana was a good promoter like you claim then he would take the top fighters in MMA and promote them, but he takes a red neck bar brawler buddy of his and gives him le shot after le shot, and that my friend is why I made the comment in the first place. Lidell is not even in the top three fighters in his weight class and yet he gets promoted the most
Chuck doesn't get promoted the most, he used to when he was the poster boy when he was dominating. As he deserved at the time. He is a UFC hall of famer and I think he has the most wins in the UFC, either him or Matt Hughes.

What le shot after le shot are you referring to?

I was just responding to the guy before me that said even though Chuck got knocked the out, Dana will still get him a le fight.
No he will not...Chuck has fought 3 times since he lost his le and none were le shots. I don't think Chuck will ever see a le shot again.

And for everything else...comparing money right now is just silly...this sport is still too new to pull in boxing headline paydays. MMA is far from as global as boxing.

I have had the Don King argument so many times its like politics and I am sick of discussing so I won't go any further except to say you are correct about the good things he did until we get out of the 70's. But if you really think King has done more than Dana White to make their respective sports grow then I can't argue much because I know I will never be able to change your mind. Dana White made mma what it is today, Don advanced the sport in the 70's. There is a huge difference.

As of right now Dana does not get enough close to enough credit for making mma what it is today from the fans and some writers but thats his fault to a point. He comes off so poorly in interviews by being so brash which is by design but he went over board. He has toned it down a lot but its going to take a long time for people to notice.

Well Quinton also won the battle against Chuck with one shot and it was bit controversial that ref stopped the fight then. I haven't heard any complains only because rampage was already considered top LHW through years.

That was rather strange. I think Rashad will give Forrest trouble. He's got very thick legs that make him tough to knock out and he's a good wrestler. It might be a boring fight though.

I'll be glad to explain how Don King is a much better promoter than Dana White... but first of all read the ing post before you go running your pie hole. I never said Dana didnt do a good job making the UFC popular, I was just responding to the guy before me that said even though Chuck got knocked the out, Dana will still get him a le fight.

Now King on the other hand came into the boxing game when boxing was completely DEAD!!! A promoters job is to set up a venue and put together a great fight, right? No other promoter has come close to King. His very first fight was Rumble in the Jungle with Ali and Foreman. At that time the mafia ran boxing and fighters werent making crap!!! King got a record $10 million for the two fighters to split up $5 mil a piece. That was way back in 1974 and Im willing to bet that Dana white has never paid one of his fighters even close to that amount, and that was more than 30 years ago.

His next fight was the Thrilla in Manilla and both fighters made millions again. Keep in mind that all of these fights are still classics today. Larry Holmes, Wilfred Benitez, Roberto Duran, Salvador Sanchez, Wilfredo Gómez, and Alexis Arguello would all fight under Don King 1970's. In less than 10 years the guy had already establised the careers of atleast 8 legends.

For the next two decades, King continued to be boxing's most successful promoter. Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Julio César Chávez, Aaron Pryor, Bernard Hopkins, Ricardo Lopez, Felix Trinidad, Terry Norris, Carlos Zarate, Azumah Nelson, Andrzej Gołota, Mike McCallum,Gerald McClellan and Meldrick Taylor are some of the boxers who chose King to promote many of their biggest fights. Once again asshole, those are all legends who became popular because of King.

But it doesnt stop there. King was responsible for promoting the Jackson 5 Victory tour which was sold out every night. Now I know he has been sued many times, but what pomoter hasnt? The point Im making is that Don King had something to do with their success. Tyson alone was said to have made over $200 million from boxing. Im willing to bet you that if you combine all of Dana Whites fighters as of right now, they have yet to make that much money combined.

Sure boxing is is not as popular as it once was, but its far from dead you jack ass. Can Dana get any of his fighters $20 mil a fight like Oscar and Mayweather... no!!! He cant even get them $5 million, not even $1mil. The top guys only get around $200k and the bottom feeders only get around $2000. Now if UFC and Dana White was so great, then how come Dana cant get his top fighters million dollar paydays.

Chuck Lidell is the highest paid fighter in MMA and he only makes $500k a fight. Mayweather would piss on that money. Even the bottom dwellers in boxing make that kind of money. And guess what smart ass, most of the MMA fighters get paid according to if they win or not. WOW... some promoter Dana is.

Now when Don King gets into MMA, the million dollar paydays will follow. Oh, and King does not won boxing like Dana owns UFC. He only manages and promotes fighters, so how in the was he responsible for the fall of boxing?
    Great Great post.

Wide open. After Winning RD 1, Chuck gets over-aggressive and is wide open to be put down. This to me is a little like Serra and GSP 1. Chuck would have won the fight had he been smarter stayed on the outside more and picked Evans apart. He got way too overconfident last night and he payed the price.

Lyoto i would think it would take a miracle to get a le shot. His style is boring and he speaks almost no english. The UFC can't have him as their 205 pd champ over someone like Forrest. Who' popular and marketable. Lyoto may deserve a shot but i would hate to give him one from a business point of view.

Chuck needs a new camp if he wants to go on. BJ Penn claims you should never be at the same camp for longer than 4 years.
Well BJ is never in shape for a fight so his losses were probably more on that than anything else. Chuck changing camps i don't think will matter. He is just not as dominant as he once was. He is pushing 40 years old and his timing and reflexes are just a little slower than they once were. That is all it takes at this level of the game. He is not the same guy that dessimated o in grand KO fashion in RD 2 of their first fight. The guy that destroyed Randy, with viscious strikes in their last 2 fights. It's funny the run he was on, Chuck was on his way to going down as the best 205 pd fighter ever. But losing to Jackson again, then Jardine and now Rashad, his legacy has been taken down a peg. No question about it.
